Purpose of Assignment:
The overall purpose of this assignment is to strengthen the Global Nutrition Cluster (GNC) capacity in creating, sharing, using and managing knowledge material and processes to better respond to ongoing and new crisis affecting the nutritional status of vulnerable populations.
Scope of Work:
The KM specialist will report to the Global Nutrition Cluster Coordinator and support the GNC Coordination Team (GNC-CT) and the Global Cluster Coordination Unit (GCCU) of the Emergency Operation Office of UNICEF in Geneva in the development and diffusion of key KM products.
The GNC work is guided by the GNC Strategic Advisory Group (GNC-SAG) and conducted in close collaboration with the Global Technical Assistance Mechanism for Nutrition (GTAM), UNICEF’s Programme Division for Nutrition in New York and the other GNC partners.
Key deliverables include:
- Guide and coordinate the contributions to the development, regular update, and adaptation of GNC knowledge products or the GNC contribution to products developed by other partners.
- Development of a strategic vision document which bridges-in the ongoing efforts to respond to the COVID19 crisis with the GNC global strategy for 2022-2025
- Develop funding concept notes as needed
- Ensure content coherence and ease of use of GNC KM products and develop and lead the implementation of the distribution strategy
- Facilitate revision of external documents to ensure that the contributions are timely provided, coherent in content and with a more uniform style
- Improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the GNC website and its relation with primarily the GTAM and ENN platforms but also with SUN and UNSCN, and to ensure that all information is up to date
- Support sharing KM products of all UNICEF-led clusters* with UNICEF EMOPS HELS (Humanitarian Knowledge Management Platform/Website)
- Ensure adequate consideration of priorities identified by the GNC annual meeting survey and develop modalities to address them via remote/digital modalities.
- Build the GNC social media presence and enhance the outreach of the GNC by regularly posting news on Twitter and LinkedIn and building a base of followers; develop a good practice tip sheet for all UNICEF-led clusters to use social media in a consistent and optimal manner.
- Support the translation and design of the GNC KM material and support the GCCU at this
- Systematically screens and cross-checks internal and external reports, information and communication materials, and other GNC-CT KM materials for accuracy and consistency.
- Assists the GNC-CT in preparation of reports for an external audiences, including donor reports, progress reports, Annual and Mid-year reports, etc.
- Prepares and systematically updates information materials, such as presentations about the GNC, Flyers, one-pagers, briefs, etc.
- Update the GNC Standard Operating Procedure (last updated in 2014)
- Finalize the development of the GCCU Sharepoint to make it more intuitive and visual (user-friendly)
