Major Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Client Services

- Provide assistance to refugees to ensure timely provision and coordination of medical services, particularly for those with serious health conditions. - Facilitate communication between clients, local health department, medical providers and resettlement agency staff to support provision of needed services for newly arrived refugees and those with serious health conditions. - Oversee delivery of health-related orientation information to newly arrived refugees as part of local cultural orientation program and provide written information on health topics to refugees as needed. - Arrange transportation as needed for refugees to attend follow-up medical appointments. - Provide information to clients on medical insurance plans including referrals to the health insurance marketplace as appropriate.

Provider Relations

- Provide training to community stakeholders on the special cultural and linguistic needs of refugees. - Develop and maintain up-to-date list of community health resources; conduct outreach to potential new providers. - Contract Compliance and Documentation - Ensure compliance with both case file management and reporting requirements. This entails regular and timely maintenance of both hard-copy and electronic files best practice standards. - Report to supervisor any unusual or difficult cases that occur or that may benefit from support from the Virginia Office of New Americans. - Participate in regular conference calls facilitated by the Virginia Office of New Americans- Refugee Services and report health data as required.

Team/Office of Participation

- Participate in all program meetings, staff development activities and other duties assigned. - Comply with all policies, procedures and protocols of the agency, placing importance on client confidentiality. - Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

Education: Bachelor's degree in social work, public health or a related field of study preferred.

Work Experience

- Relevant professional experience in human services field required; minimum 2 years experience strongly preferred. - Experience working with refugee and/or immigrant populations strongly preferred.

Demonstrated Skills & Competencies

- Strong relationship building, diplomacy and networking skills; ability to effectively build internal and external relationships. - Demonstrated success working and communicating effectively in a multi-cultural environment. - Self-starter with excellent problem-solving skills combined with the proven ability to prioritize and manage time effectively. - Attention to detail and accuracy in work product - Fluency in English required, both spoken and written; proficiency in language(s) spoken by client group preferred. - Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook); ability to use the internet and other digital tools for data entry, research and problem-solving purposes. - Valid driver's license and access to a personal insured vehicle.

Working Environment:

- A combination of standard office environment, remote work and "field" time within the service delivery area to perform the above outlined responsibilities. - May require occasional weekend and/or evening work.

Compensation: Posted pay ranges apply to US-based candidates. Ranges are based on various factors including the labor market, job type, internal equity, and budget. Exact offers are calibrated by work location, individual candidate experience and skills relative to the defined job requirement.
