Votre environnement de travail

Afghanistan has been facing significant challenges in providing adequate health and nutrition services to its population. The country has a high maternal mortality rate, with limited access to reproductive health services and maternal health care. According to the WHO, only 42% of Afghanistan's population has access to essential health services, and only 34% of health facilities meet minimum standards. Moreover, the country faces significant challenges in terms of malnutrition, with 32% of children under five years old suffering from stunting, and 10.3% being wasted. These issues are exacerbated by economic fallout resulting from the political transition that has plunged Afghanistan into a dire state of affairs. The alarming consequences of job losses, cash shortages, and skyrocketing prices, have given rise to a new class of hunger-stricken individuals.

To address the dire need for primary healthcare and acute under-nutrition treatment services in Afghanistan, ACF is working in the areas that have limited or no access to health services through the deployment of Mobile Health and Nutrition Teams (IMHNTs) and Therapeutic Feeding Units (TFU), as well as the Sub Health Centers (SHC) and Family Health House (FHH). Your main role will be crucial in building the technical capacity of the project health and nutrition staff, ensuring the health program implementation quality provided in ACF health facilities, and monitoring the project implementation closely.

Pourquoi nous rejoindre ?

The position was created following the new developments in ACF Afghanistan's health and nutrition implementation strategy in 2022. As part of this strategy, ACF Afghanistan is expanding to provide primary health care services in static facilities such as Health Sub-Centers (HSC) and Family Health Houses (FHH). In response to a circular from the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH), all health partners are required to change their Mobile Health and Nutrition Teams (MHNTs) to fixed/static health facilities within one month and transition short-term projects to sustainable and high-impact interventions, ACF transiting its intervention from Mobile health deployment to working in static facilities in hard to reach areas. Since this is ACF Afghanistan's first experience providing primary health care services for the above five populations (general public), including health facility delivery services, there is a high demand for a health and nutrition expert to provide technical support. This expert will help ensure a smooth transition and maintain the quality of service delivery in the static facilities including TFUS, SHCs, and FHHs.
