Background

The Central African Republic (CAR) continues to face enormous humanitarian needs due to years of conflict and instability. In 2024, half of the population is in need of humanitarian assistance (2.8 million people) and about 40% of the population fears for their safety. Around 500,000 people live in protracted displacement and depend on humanitarian assistance and protection to survive, while more than 2 million people face food insecurity.

NRC has been present in CAR since 2014 and currently employs 11 international staff and around 165 national staff. NRC operations cover a wide geographical area with activities spread across strategic prefectures throughout the country such as Mambere Kadei, Nana Mambere and Ouham Pendé in the west, Nana Gribizi, Kemo and Ouham Fafa in the center, Basse-Kotto in the south, Ombella Mpoko in the southwest. NRC operates from three field/area offices in Bouar, Kaga Bandoro and Alindao, and a country office in Bangui, the capital.

The programme portfolio includes six core competencies (CC): ICLA (Information, Counselling and Legal Assistance), Livelihoods and Food Security, WaSH, Shelter, Education as well as Protection from Violence
