  • Danish at working level an advantage

Danish Refugee Council, one of the world’s leading humanitarian NGOs, is looking for a highly qualified and experienced manager to lead DRC’s Diaspora Programme in Copenhagen. If you combine strategic programmatic thinking and operational efficiency with a proven track record of fundraising for civil society programming, are experienced in leading an ambitious and multi-cultural team and in engaging with diaspora networks across geographies, then you might be the right candidate for this position.

About the job

DRC is increasingly recognizing the essential role played by transnational civil society – diaspora – in their countries of origin and has over the past 10 years developed a global Diaspora Programme (DP) that aims to further enhance and support constructive diaspora engagement for protection and solution outcomes for people affected by conflict and displacement. The DP consists of several donor-funded projects (currently 5 grants) of which some are implemented directly by the DP and others that are implemented in collaboration with DRC country programmes.

The DP Manager will be responsible for the continued overall strategic development and implementation of, as well as mobilization of resources for, DRC’s Diaspora Programme.

The DP Manager will provide direct management to the project coordinators (currently 6) and unit support staff (currently 4). Formally, the DP manager will have line management responsibility for an additional 9 staff, who on a daily basis are managed by the project coordinators.

The main duties and responsibilities of the Head of the DP will be:

  • Programmatic development of the DP
    • Based on DRC’s diaspora strategy and in close collaboration with project staff, facilitate the further programmatic development of the DP
  • Fundraising & donor engagement
    • Lead DP fundraising activities and donor engagement in collaboration with relevant staff
  • People management
    • Line management of all staff within the DP, with main focus on daily management of project coordinators and support specialists
  • Networking and representation towards external stakeholders and donors
    • Ensure visibility of the DP towards relevant external stakeholders and donors
  • Financial management
    • Supported by the diaspora program grants and finance specialist, the DP manager is responsible for the overall financial and contractual performance of the DP
  • Internal communication and promotion of the diaspora programme
    • Ensure that the diaspora programme is well-positioned across the organization – in particular with DRC field operations

We offer

Contract length: Permanent (the position is donor-funded and thereby continued employment is subject to funding – fundraising is expected for the long-term continuation of the Programme)

Workplace: Copenhagen

Start date: 1 August or ASAP

Salary and conditions will be in accordance with the agreement between DRC and the Lederaftale (Management agreement). This is a national position for which local terms and conditions apply.
