This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a new and growing project. NRC wants to transition from the use of diesel generators to renewable sources of energy and this project will provide the financial and technical support required to meet that goal.

As a Green Fund Adviser – Coordination, you will coordinate the implementation of a new financing mechanism for capital assets, allocation and repayment of funds for solar energy equipment, support to NRC country offices transitioning to solar energy, and the deployment of energy experts.

Experience working in the humanitarian sector and particularly NRC will be an advantage. The position will be in English but knowledge of additional NRC working languages such as French or Spanish would be useful.

Some of your specific responsibilities include:

  • Being the focal point for the project and coordinating stakeholders including Regional and Country Office Teams, experts, consultants, Finance and External Relations.
  • Developing processes and standard operating procedures to manage the fund.
  • Working with NRC Country Offices to guide them through the stages of their solar projects and accessing support from the green fund.
  • Maintaining an overview of the fund and forecast.
  • Putting in place and managing a supportive helpdesk service.
  • Coordinating the deployment of technical advisers.
  • Developing communication resources for use internally and externally.
  • Capturing learning and updating the NRC solar handbook with new content.

What you will bring

  • University degree in environmental science, supply chain management or other relevant studies.
  • Documented experience from managing or providing support to larger projects or events.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with other departments, sections, and units
  • Excellent analytical skills.
  • Fluency in English, both written and verbal, and working knowledge of other NRC languages (Spanish, French, Arabic) is an asset.
  • Relevant work experience in the Humanitarian/ Development Sector (desirable).
  • Experience in environmental organisations is an advantage.
  • Competent ICT user, including Word, excel, outlook, Visio, ppt etc.
  • Knowledge of international humanitarian work and donor procedures (desirable).
