Result of Service ¿ Visuals created for communication materials related to anti-racism, racial diversity & inclusion in the workplace to promote targeted action to increase awareness among staff members and create common communications to enhance tolerance and understanding and anti-racism. ¿ Multilingual graphics developed including infographics, brochures, flyers, fact sheets, posters, logos, interactive media, etc. Ensure branded products for outreach and high-visibility campaigns are consistent and compliant across websites, social media, digital media, and physical assets. ¿ Design and layout of reports, including covers, graphs, charts, and data sets.

Duties and Responsibilities Background:

Organizational Setting and Reporting Relationships: This individual contract is located in the Anti-racism Team (ART) in the Office of the Under-Secretary-General for Management Strategy, Policy, and Compliance. ART is responsible for high-level oversight, coordination, monitoring, advocacy, and mainstreaming of the Strategic Action Plan implementation efforts in all departments and offices.

The Secretary-General is committed to zero tolerance and organizational action to address racism and racial discrimination and the equal treatment and full inclusion of all United Nations personnel in the work of the Organization. He has therefore launched a Strategic Action Plan on Addressing Racism and Promoting Dignity for All in the United Nations Secretariat (hereafter the "strategic action plan") to tackle this abhorrent behaviour.

Responsibilities:

Under the supervision and guidance of the Communications and Engagement Officer, the Graphic Designer will be responsible for the following duties:

¿ Create visual communication materials related to anti-racism, diversity & inclusion in the workplace. ¿ Develop multilingual graphics such as infographics, brochures, flyers, fact sheets, posters, logos, interactive media, etc. Ensure branded products for outreach and high-visibility campaigns are consistent and compliant across websites, social media, digital media, and physical assets. ¿ Execute design and layout of reports, including covers, graphs, charts, and data sets. ¿ Design responsively across desktop, mobile, and tablet platforms. ¿ Source photography and other visuals as necessary. ¿ Be a strong presence in the ideation and conception process of dynamic, multimedia cross-platform campaigns. ¿ Identify issues and trends in visual media and advise on appropriate action/responses. Collaborate with other members of the Organization to ensure synergy across departments and offices. This position is a remote-based consultancy, and the selected candidate is expected to use their own equipment and software.

Qualifications/special skills Academic Qualifications: First level university degree or equivalent in graphic design, multimedia communications, or related field is required. Secondary education in combination with four additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the first level university degree. ¿ A minimum of 5 years of experience creating effective visual design solutions for brand, marketing, and products is required. ¿ Proven experience synthesizing complex information and presenting it in a user-friendly and visually appealing format is required. ¿ Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, and Acrobat is required. ¿ Experience in designing anti-racism, diversity, and inclusion communication products is desirable. ¿ Experience working with the UN or similar international organizations is desirable. ¿ Experience working with the UN or similar international organizations is desirable.

Languages English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this consultancy posting, fluency in English is required. Knowledge of French is desirable. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is an advantage.
