Overview

Provide graphic design support for UNHCR materials as an online volunteer.

You have:

• Candidates should have at least 2 years' experience in graphic design.
• The successful candidate will have in-depth knowledge of graphic design applications.
• Good verbal and written communication skills are required.
• Attention to detail is necessary.
• Data literacy is highly desirable.
• Availability for a weekly meeting to assess the progress of the work.
• Shortlisted candidates will be required to include a portfolio showcasing previous work.

Since the outbreak of the international conflict in Ukraine on 24 February 2022, UNHCR has scaled up its operation in Romania. By the end of December 2025, Romania has recorded over 200,000 individuals who were granted Temporary Protection and over 25,000 asylum applications. To support and inform the response to the emerging needs of the refugees, UNHCR has relied on evidence, thus enhancing its data and information management activities.

Information management plays a central role in shaping evidence-based refugee narratives, countering misinformation and negative discourse regarding refugees in the country, and supporting data-driven advocacy, fundraising, and strategic decision-making. Moreover, information management enables sustained engagement with think tanks and academic institutions to advance the statistical inclusion of refugees, strengthen the production and use of data on forcibly displaced populations, and stimulates academic research and policy-relevant debate on forced displacement.

The Information Management (IM) team aims to standardise lectures, training modules, and academic interventions, in order to strengthen data literacy, promote applied research, and anchor knowledge production on forced displacement within national contexts.

We are looking for an online volunteer who, in close collaboration with the IM team, will provide graphic design support for UNHCR materials developed for the wider public.

The Online Volunteer is expected to create visually compelling PowerPoint Presentations and fact sheets tailored to the targeted audiences, and in line with the UNHCR’s brand guidelines.

Required experience - Candidates should have at least 2 years' experience in graphic design. - The successful candidate will have in-depth knowledge of graphic design applications, good verbal and written communication skills, and will pay attention to detail. - Working with the IM team, data literacy is highly desirable.

It will also be required that the selected candidate is available for a weekly meeting to assess the progress of the work. Shortlisted candidates will be required to include a portfolio showcasing previous work.
