Job Description

Scope of Work:

The Development Coordinator serves as a member of the Resource Development Department and works closely with the Development Manager and Program Managers to leverage community, foundation, and public funding opportunities through proposal writing, grant tracking and reporting, and unrestricted fundraising. The Development Coordinator works to ensure the IRC in Atlanta has adequate resources to support programs and services and is responsible for raising an agreed upon annual financial goal. This is a full-time non-exempt position, reporting to the Senior Development Manager in Atlanta.

Responsibilities:

Resource Development

· Meet or exceed annual fundraising goals with a focus on grant funding.

· Assist the Senior Development Manager in the development of an annual fundraising plan with specific and measurable goals and objectives for development of restricted and unrestricted funds.

· Implement a strategy linked to the fundraising plan to solicit new sources of unrestricted and private cash funding through the submission of proposals, letters of inquiry, and other requests for funding.

· Research private and public grant opportunities and serve as the focal person for the development of new proposals with program managers.

· Oversee the preparation of letters of inquiry, proposals, budgets and reports to local foundations and other potential donors to solicit resources for programs in collaboration with program staff, the Senior Development Manager, and the Finance Manager.

· Maintain an efficient system for proposal development with clear responsibilities outlined for management, programs, and finance departments that yields timely, high-quality submissions.

· Assist Resource Development staff, the Senior Leadership Team, and the Executive Director in raising awareness about IRC and representing the office at meetings, conferences, and public speaking engagements when needed.

Grants management

· Maintain grants management tracking and donor tracking system and regularly update the Resource Development staff, the Senior Leadership Team, and the Executive Director with accurate data.

· Ensure the effective maintenance of contract and grant files for each funded program with consistent documentation standards.

· Work closely with program managers and staff to prepare interim and final reports to grantors.

· Liaise with the headquarters’ revenue, grants and business development staff on all new contracts, grants, and sub-grants.

· Manage the proposal submission process via OTIS by coordinating with program managers and headquarters staff to ensure on-time submission of proposals.

· Shepherd all subaward and formal partnerships through the IRC’s global PEERS process.

· Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

· Bachelor’s degree required.

· Minimum of two (2) years’ experience writing grants

· Minimum of three (3) years of professional work experience required with progressive levels of responsibility.

· Program management or supervisory functions experience strongly preferred.

· Proven, superior organizational skills in a complex, multi-tasking environment.

· Outcome driven work style, establishing clear expectations and ongoing measurement of performance toward achieving targeted outcomes.

· Proven ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines, to work independently as well as in a team.

· Excellent Microsoft Office skills and ability to learn new computer applications rapidly; experience with donor management databases preferred.

· Ability to communicate effectively and diplomatically with current and prospective donors and volunteers, partner agencies, multi-cultural clients and colleagues on all levels.

· Experience working with refugees and immigrants, international work, and/or non-profit experience is highly desirable.

· Commitment to the mission of the IRC.

Working Environment:

· A combination of standard office environment, remote work, and ‘field’ time within the service delivery area to perform the above outlined responsibilities.

· May require occasional weekend and/or evening work.
