Work Location Beirut

Expected duration 3 months starting 18 July 2022

Duties and Responsibilities Under the supervision of the RCO Team Leader, the consultant will be responsible for the following:

1- Coordinate the operational phase of the UN-Parliament partnership compact - Coordinate, monitor, and follow up on the operationalization and implementation of the UN-Parliament partnership compact - Organize and plan the UNCT meeting with the Parliament (including meetings with MPs, Parliament officials etc.) - Monitor, track and foster the progress of the UN-Parliament partnership compact focus areas

2- Provide policy advice and legal technical support to the UN agencies planning to engage with the Parliament - Support the UNCT in identifying key priority reforms and liaise with Parliament officials based on the partnership compact to identify engagement opportunities - Support UN agencies in organizing parliamentary workshops/seminars - Provide best practices and lessons learned for the UNCT contributing to an effective and efficient approach to supporting the Parliament

3- Provide monitoring and analytical support on the implementation of the priority reforms - Update, analyze and alert UN agencies on challenges related to the advancement of reform priorities - Develop weekly legislative updates with strong analysis on developments that impact the advancement of reform priorities - Maintain an updated mapping of ongoing and planned UNCT support to Parliament - Support the RCO in developing draft messages, TPs and MoMs

Qualifications/special skills Academic Qualifications: Relevant degree in law Experience: - At least 5 years professional work experience with a bachelor's degree and 3 years with graduate degree - Experience in working with government/parliament - Prior work experience in the field. Good knowledge of UN, and the role of the UN Resident Coordinator system, is an advantage Language: Fluency in English and Arabic
