Job Purpose:

As a People & Culture (P&C) function, our vision is to enable a vibrant Christ-centered culture where staff thrive, fulfill their potential, and live out their calling to deliver on Our Promise to the world’s most vulnerable children in nearly 100 countries.

As World Vision International’s Global Director of Partnership Facing P&C - Field/Support Office Engagement, you will provide strategic leadership, technical subject matter expertise, and People & Culture operational support to P&C leaders in the Field. As a member of the P&C Senior Leadership Team, you will drive a field and client focus working closely to support and enable P&C Directors within the Regions, and VisionFund International, and act as a Functional/Matrix Manager for eight direct reports.

You will take the lead on behalf of People & Culture Global Center to engage P&C leaders across the Partnership to drive collaboration, cohesion, coordination, and global alignment on P&C Strategy and initiatives, as well as work to drive solutions, facilitate delivery and agility amidst complex operations. You will interface with and advise senior leaders in aligning organisational strategies, goals, and priorities with World Vision’s vision, mission, and values.

You will actively contribute to global forums including the People and Culture Leadership Forum (PCLF.). This role will also be responsible to engage and build relationships and collaboration with P&C leaders in our Support Offices.

Major Job Responsibilities:

P&C Global Integration and Alignment

  • Contribute to strategy development, contextualise, and implement the Global P&C Strategy for World Vision offices including the Regional/Field Offices and Support Office through strategic partnering with WV Senior Executives, partnership and regional leaders, and senior managers.
  • Provide coaching and guidance on HR-related issues and challenges. Advise and partner with WVI Client groups to meet key strategic objectives through relevant and aligned people / organisational interventions.
  • Provide effective consultancy services to leaders across People & Culture, the Field and Support Offices.
  • Proactive communication, coordination and collaboration on strategy, annual plans and global initiatives.
  • Ensure a field and client focus is embedded in strategy, process, systems and tools.

Functional/Matrix Management

  • Provide effective technical expertise, professional support, and oversight
  • Participate in search and selection of Region P&C leadership roles. Partner with the line manager in performance management, coaching, development, and succession planning.
  • Lead the Regional P&C Leadership Team which brings together Global Centre (GC), Regional and VisionFund P&C Directors.
  • Participate in Crisis Management Teams on behalf of the GC for Field Facing situations.
  • Build Region P&C capability, strengthen P&C advisory capability in the region and Field.
  • Drive education and enablement of P&C staff to expand people capabilities in core areas of technical expertise including Total Reward and Talent Acquisition.
  • Strong commitment to increase agility, collaboration, innovation and effectiveness while building unity and trust.
  • Develop adoption of mindsets and behaviours into culture of the Business Partner team.

Support Office (SO) Engagement and Collaboration

  • In collaboration with the CPO, engage with all Support Offices, taking the lead within Tiers.
  • Set up new ways of working to strengthen collaboration with P&C SO Leaders
  • Strengthen organisation culture through cohesion, collaboration and engagement.
  • Share and promote best practice and create communities of practice and forums for greater collaboration across the Partnership

People & Culture Leadership

  • As a member of the WVI P&C Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and WV P&C Leadership Forum (PCLF), provide thought leadership and actively engage to bring about the vision of a thriving Christ-centred culture where each staff member feels valued and empowered to fulfill God’s calling in their lives
  • Collaborate widely across P&C, engaging with peers and teams across the operational effectiveness unit, office of the executive, and Centres of Expertise and with other functions.
  • Drive a culture of learning and agility, and facilitate continuous improvement of P&C processes, systems, policies, procedures, and tools.

Field and Support Office Facing Project Implementation

  • Working closely with the CPO office and Global Field Operations (GFO) leadership, ensure implementation of global projects and programs from a functional perspective that impacts regions and rely on coordination. This would include planning and coordination of the GFO Field Calendar
  • Co-create global P&C Strategy, talent approaches and initiatives across Total Rewards, People & Organisation Capability and Talent Acquisition.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

  • Master’s degree in HR, Business, or related field.
  • 15 years HR leadership with a minimum of 10 years of Business Partner or generalist experience and significant people leadership experience in a complex, multinational organisation.
  • CIPD/SHRM or other Global HR certification desirable.
  • Minimum of ten years of global HR experience.
  • At least five years of field experience in P&C and/or leadership roles.
  • Professional Maturity (Senior Advisor): Professional maturity to provide counsel and expertise as well as actionable feedback. The ability to identify the highest leverage changes required and the self-confidence to work with senior executives, challenging their perspective as appropriate, to achieve buy in for key changes and/or initiatives.
  • Able to translate strategic imperatives into tangible and relevant local outcomes.
  • Outstanding people and client relationship skills.
  • Demonstrable credibility with key stakeholders either within WV or externally.
  • Strong business acumen and demonstrated capacity to work as a business/ministry partner with a diverse senior group.
  • There is an organisational requirement for this role to be held by a committed Christian as set out in the partnership.
  • Fluency in the English language (written and verbal).
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 30% of the time.

  • Clear and positive Christian faith commitment and capacity to provide leadership and guidance in this area
  • Advanced skills in French and/or Spanish
  • WV operating knowledge skills and abilities as a current or previous employee
