UNICEF has been present in Uruguay since 1992. Since then, it has provided technical cooperation and financial assistance to the Government and to the society in different areas to promote the rights of children and adolescents and generate opportunities for all of them to achieve the full development of their abilities. UNICEF work is based on a cooperation program that is agreed with the government every five years. A new cooperation program between UNICEF and Uruguay's Government started in March 2021.

UNICEF provides technical assistance and advice for monitoring, supporting and promoting children's rights on the following areas within the country:

  • Support policies to reduce levels of poverty affecting children with special focus on early child development.
  • Prevention of non-communicable diseases on children under five.
  • Improve graduation rates in upper secondary education.
  • Guarantee the access of children with disabilities to inclusive education.
  • Reduce the number of children and adolescents living in institutional care.
  • Prevention of violence against girls and boys.
  • Empower adolescents to participate in decision making processes.
  • Improve alternatives to deprivation of liberty for adolescents in conflict with the law.
  • Raise awareness about child rights among Uruguay's general public and the engagement of the private sector, civil society organizations (CSOs) and academic institutions in promoting, protecting and monitoring child rights.

Strategic Office Context

Over the last years, Uruguay Country Office has experienced a sustained growth in fundraising, which is explained by the results obtained in the Individual Giving channel with an increasing houselist of pledge donors. Digital has become a key area to deliver the Individual Giving’s strategy and plans towards 2025, given the crucial role of digital to boost results across channels.

Under the close supervision of the Fundraising Officer, NO-B, the Fundraising Associate (Digital) GS6 will support the implementation of Uruguay Country Office’s digital fundraising strategy. Digital plays a pivotal role to achieve the Gross Revenue planned in the upcoming years and is a strategic building block to align to the Global Individual Giving strategy. This position will be key to ensure the achievement of revenue goals in an increasing and more complex fundraising operation.

Purpose of the Position

The Fundraising Associate (Digital) GS6 will assist in the implementation and monitoring of a digital fundraising strategy aligned with the Country Office Fundraising Strategy.

This position will play a key role in supporting the achievement of fundraising results by securing the Gross Revenue planned by acquiring new pledge donors, cash donors and for their value maximization through digital channels. The position will contribute to synergy across channels within Individual Giving area, such as DRTV, Telethon, Telemarketing and Legacies, as the whole marketing strategy relies on a strong and sustainable digital strategy.

Key Accountabilities and Duties & Tasks

Summary of key functions/accountabilities:

Within the delegated authority and under the given supervision of the Fundraising Officer (Individual Giving), the incumbent may be assigned the primarily, shared, or contributory accountabilities for all or part of the following areas of major duties and key end-results.

  • Support the development and implementation of digital fundraising strategies and initiatives, including acquisition campaigns (pledge, leads, one-offs) and partner retention campaigns (line and circle) to deliver various fundraising KPIs across all digital channels:

  • Support planning, execution and evaluation of the investment strategy of the different channels to obtain the maximum profitability in terms of ROI.

  • Support planning, execution and evaluation of the objectives, strategies and actions in the different digital capture channels: SEO / SEM, Display, Real Timing Biding, social networks, affiliation, database capture actions, among others, seeking the maximum volume and profitability in terms of ROI.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of a CRO (conversion rate optimization) strategy. Analyze the journey and user experience and obtain insights to implement.
  • Focus on creating work processes that can be tested with measurable results and have a quick impact on fundraising. Develop and optimize the website, emails and prepare images and manage CMS systems.
  • Support the development and implementation of digital acquisition campaigns (leads and direct donors).
  • Support the development and implementation of partner retention campaigns (line and circle).
  • Generate A/B testing actions and follow up on results.

  • Keep up-to-date dashboards and metrics to track digital performance measurement and find the right tools to implement:

  • Develop a metric plan and propose KPIs in accordance with the Individual Giving strategy.

  • Support the development of the strategy, implementation, and optimization of web analytics: tags, tracking, metrics and implementation of pixels through Google Tag Manager, Google Analytics, Hotjar and other tools that may be necessary.
  • Propose improvements according to the results obtained.
  • Generate and share monthly digital reports. Develop dashboards to monitor key digital performance indicators.

  • Coordinate all the necessary technological solutions to support the strategy of recruitment, retention, loyalty, value maximization, PFP legacies, guaranteeing compliance with legal requirements:

  • Ensure digital platforms and activities protect data transfer.

  • Guarantee compliance with legal requirements in all digital activities, in the short and long term (GDPR, data management, etc.).
  • Provide knowledge on the use of ICT and CRM.

  • Provide an up-to-date analysis of best practices, opportunities and trends and innovation related to digital fundraising, from the UNICEF network and external organizations:

  • Use innovation to identify new trends in digital transformation and develop new business models and channels.

  • Understand how digital organizations work and try to apply these principles in the daily work of UNICEF.
  • Use the UNICEF network to apply the best digital learning. Analyze best practices and apply learning.
  • Use these learnings and seek to implement successful activities of UNICEF and external organizations.

  • Effective cross-functional coordination and collaboration:

  • Work in a coordinated way with the different fundraising areas and the Communication team to successfully implement the Country Office’s fundraising digital strategy.

  • Any other project assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications of Successful Candidate:

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

Experience: Minimum of six years of relevant work experience in digital marketing and/or e-commerce. Work experience in digital acquisition, integrated media planning and multi-channel campaign management is an asset.

Education: Completion of secondary education is required. Studies at university level in marketing, communication, fundraising and/or e-commerce is an asset.

Language Requirements: Fluency in English and Spanish is required.
