Contract

As part of its country program for the period 2021-2025, UN Women aligns with Côte d'Ivoire's priorities set out in the National Development Plan (PND) 2021-2025. This plan, which adopts an organized, proactive and inclusive approach, aims to position Côte d'Ivoire as a middle-income country by the end of the decade. The country's ten-year strategy targets a structural transformation of its economy, aiming to accelerate the development of Ivorian society in an inclusive manner, by placing men and women at the heart of this process, as main actors and beneficiaries.

Since 2014, UN Women Côte d'Ivoire has supported the efforts of the Ivorian government, with particular emphasis on women's economic empowerment. Working in close collaboration with the government, the private sector, NGOs, and various technical and financial partners, including the African Development Bank (AfDB), UN Women initiates and implements projects that promote the economic empowerment of women. These initiatives cover key sectors such as climate-resilient agriculture and women's entrepreneurship.

In this context, the United Nations Volunteer (UNV) will work specifically on food security initiatives. By integrating gender perspectives, the UNV will strive to respond to the specific needs of women and girls in the face of increasing food insecurity. This approach is part of UN Women's overall objective of promoting gender equality and supporting sustainable and inclusive development in Côte d'Ivoire.

Under the direct supervision of the National Programme Manager, the UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks:

1) Support food security assessments, identifying gender disparities, and propose policy recommendations for equitable access to resources.2) Support the development and implementation of emergency food assistance programs, ensuring that interventions effectively target the specific needs of women and girls and contribute to their economic empowerment in the agricultural and eating 3) Assist local partners (NGOs, government) in incorporating gender considerations into food security practices, offering guidance and resources to enhance their ability to promote inclusive agricultural methods.4) Contribute to the development and adjustment of national food security policies and strategies, ensuring that gender equality is a central dimension, and that women actively participate as key actors in the fight against food insecurity. 5) Facilitating access to credit and financial resources for women farmers and entrepreneurs, in collaboration with financial institutions and development partners to design financial products adapted to the needs of women.

in implementing projects related to food security or agriculture. Familiarity with integrating gender perspectives and promoting women's empowerment is an asset. Strong analytical and communication skills are desirable for supporting data analysis and sharing insights with stakeholders. Proven ability to integrate gender analysis into the planning, implementation, and evaluation of food security projects. Some experience collaborating with local partners, including governmental and non-governmental organizations, to support sustainable and inclusive agricultural practices. Willingness to assist in field assessments and data collection, with an interest in developing skills in qualitative and quantitative data analysis.- Some experience in developing or assisting with targeted training to support the capacity building of women in the agriculture and food security sectors.- Knowledge of national and international policies and strategies relating to food security, rural development, and gender equality.

Côte d'Ivoire presents a diverse economic landscape, including agriculture, mining and services. It offers a range of living environments from bustling urban centers like Abidjan, the economic capital, to more rural and agricultural areas. Abidjan is known for its vibrant culture, diverse cuisine and relatively modern infrastructure, but it also faces challenges such as traffic congestion. In contrast, rural areas offer a quieter lifestyle but may lack some basic services and infrastructure. The climate in Ivory Coast is generally tropical, with a wet season and a dry season.
