Financial Capabilities Intern (Spanish Speaker)
- Intern will learn how to effectively manage financial education and coaching program. - Intern will learn how to provide direct services to immigrant populations. - Intern will learn how to instruct courses to English Language Learners.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide one-on-one financial coaching and counseling for clients - Conduct financial management intakes and surveys for all clients - Track client meetings and progress in spreadsheet and through case noting on ETO software - Facilitate monthly financial literacy/education workshops for clients - Develop database of financial resources for clients - Work in conjunction with the Economic Empowerment specialist to develop relationships with financial institutions and organizations providing financial services in NYC - Communicate effectively in person and by telephone - Collaborate with other IRC in NY programs as necessary - Adhere to IRC policies, particularly those related to confidentiality and client privacy
Qualifications REQUIREMENTS:
- The ideal candidate will have experience in providing coaching or counseling services, preferably in personal financial management. - Experience working with immigrants or refugees in a social service setting - Experience providing instruction to adults a plus - Must have good written and verbal English language skills - Ability to fluently speak at least one of the following languages (Farsi/Dari, Arabic, Spanish, French, Burmese, Mandarin, Russian, Urdu) preferred - Must be willing to work varied hours - Basic computer skills (Microsoft Access and Word, E-mail) - Ability to pass a background check - Adhere to professional standards of confidentiality and boundary-setting
