You have:

  • At least 5 years of experience in at least two different conflict affecting contexts.
  • Fluent in written and spoken English.
  • Knowledge of Ukrainian or Russian is an added value.
  • Previous experience with development of budgets and budget revisions to various international donors.
  • Previous experience with preparation of financial reports to various international donors.
  • Previous experience with an ERP is required, preferably working experience with Microsoft Dynamics.
  • Previous experience writing and implementing SOPs on financial processes required.
  • Excellent excel skills and ability to train staff on excel is required.
  • University degree in Finance/Accounting/Commerce/Business Administration.

Danish Refugee Council (DRC) has been operating in Ukraine since 2014 and is currently scaling up its operation in Ukraine to deliver lifesaving assistance and emergency response to people affected by the war.

The Finance Specialist will be responsible for preparation of budgets for proposals to donors, budget revision within existing grants; preparation of interim and final financial reports to donors. The position will also have a focus on development of budget tool/s as well as on the capacity building of national finance staff.

Overall purpose of the role:

  • Preparation of budgets and budget revisions
  • Preparation financial reports
  • Capacity building of national finance staff

Main responsibilities

  • Review and adjust budgeting process according to the needs of the mission
  • Create/adjust tools to facilitate preparation of proposal budgets to donors
  • Work with / educate proposal/budget writers on the principles and techniques of creation of budgets
  • Prepare proposal budgets and agreements/contracts budget revisions
  • Set up budgets in ERP system Dynamics-365
  • Train / work with budget holders on the principles and techniques of budget follow- up and forecast
  • Prepare finance reports and invoices to donors
  • Train and capacity build national finance staff to create / consolidate budgets and prepare financial reports

Required experience and competencies

  • Previous experience with development of budgets and budget revisions to various international donors: UNHCR, UNICEF, UNDP, GIZ, WRA, DFID SIDA, EU, ECHO, etc.
  • Previous experience with preparation of financial reports to various international donors: UNHCR, UNICEF, UNDP, GIZ, WRA, DFID SIDA, EU, ECHO, etc
  • Previous experience with an ERP is required, preferably working experience with Microsoft Dynamics;
  • Previous experience writing and implementing SOPs on financial processes required;

Education:

University degree in Finance/Accounting/Commerce/Business Administration

We offer

Salary and other conditions are offered in accordance with DRC’s Terms of Employment for international staff or DRC National Staff salary scale.
