Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is a leading protection agency with a mandate to protect, advocate and promote durable solutions for displacement affected populations.

DRC has been operating in Ukraine since 2014, currently DRC employs over 600 staff in Ukraine and will continue significant scale-up in 2023 to implement emergency response in the Protection, Livelihoods, Shelter/NFIs and Humanitarian Disarmament and Peacebuilding (humanitarian mine action) sectors, using direct interventions, support to duty bearers and civil society organizations (CSOs), and partnerships with CSOs. DRC will continue and adapt its durable solutions portfolio to the evolving context.

DRC is currently looking for a Finance Officer for its activities in Sumy.

This position will be supervised by the Finance Team Leader.

Overall purpose of the role:

Under the supervision of the Base Manager and technical support from the Finance Team Leader, the Finance Officer will manage the day-to-day financial functions of the office.

Main responsibilities:

  • Budget monitoring and forecasting – review of budget expenditures and consolidation of information necessary for forecast preparation;
  • Management of auxiliary expenses, their distribution (fuel, salary, rent, etc.) based on reported expenses confirmed by relevant supporting documents;
  • Keeping records, in accordance with internal instructions of the DRB and Ukrainian legislation, accurately and on time;
  • Ensuring timely accounting at the end of the month, including cash counting and bank reconciliation;
  • Review of Purchase Requests (PR) and Requests for Payments (RFP);
  • Support with the audit of each project;
  • Active participation in the harmonization of operational work between regional and base offices: exchange of ideas, creation of tools, updating of instructions, etc.;
  • Providing other financial support in the office and preparing reports at the request of the manager
  • Payments through online banking

Required experience and competencies:

  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in finance
  • Previous experience with INGO will be an advantage
  • Advanced knowledge of the English language
  • Excellent skills in working with Microsoft Office;
  • Developed organizational skills;
  • Accuracy in filing documents;
  • Competence in conducting negotiations;
  • Financial literacy
  • Knowledge of tax legislation

Required education: Higher degree in relevant field or equivalent (finance, accounting)

We offer:

  • Contract length: 3-month probation period with possible contract extension
  • Level: H
  • Designation of Duty Station: Sumy full time
  • Start date: As soon as possible.

Salary and conditions will be in accordance with Danish Refugee Council’s Terms of Employment for national staff.
