Organizational Setting

The main aim of the FAO country offices, which are headed by an FAO Representative, is to achieve food security and to reduce hunger and malnutrition, to help develop the agricultural, fisheries, and forestry sectors, and to use their environmental and natural resources in a sustainable manner.

Reporting Lines

Under the overall guidance and supervision of the FAO Representative and the direct supervision of the Assistant FAO Representative (Admin), the Finance Assistant is responsible for a variety of routine financial support functions for the FAO Representation.

Technical Focus

The Finance Assistant will ensure that the payments and other financial services including banking service are provided according to the FAO policies, manual and procedures.

Tasks and responsibilities

The incumbent performs the following duties:

• Prepare and monitor monthly cash flow to avoid a cash deficit account

• Review payment requests for Goods/Services, etc, and settlement vouchers/ receipt of advance are in accordance with FAO’s financial policy

• Process Disbursement Vouchers in Global Resource Management System (GRMS) for payment

• Prepare CHECK according to disbursement vouchers for authorized signatory

• Facilitate and coordinate with the Bank for the cash withdrawal and payment transfer process

• Coordinate with the Bank related to the bank account and payment etc.

• Maintain a filing system of financial documents.

• Review required information and documentation for local Travel Authorization/Travel Expense Claim approval

• Perform other duties as required

CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING

Minimum Requirements

• University Degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field

• 3 years of relevant experience in finance / budget-related support work

• Working knowledge (Level C) of Myanmar/Burmese

• Working knowledge (Level C) of English

• National of Myanmar or resident of the country with a valid work permit
