Overview

Support daily finance functions and assist with DRC programmes.

You have:

  • Minimum of 1 year experience in administration and finance or related area.
  • University degree in Finance, Labor Economy, Management or equivalent.
  • Proficient in written and spoken Ukrainian or Russian languages.
  • Basic English proficiency or above is required.
  • Good/advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and experience with ERP systems preferred.

Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is a leading protection agency with a mandate to protect, advocate and promote durable solutions for displacement affected populations.

DRC has been operating in Ukraine since 2014, currently DRC employs over 400 staff in Ukraine and will continue significant scale-up in 2023 to implement emergency response in the Protection, Livelihoods, Shelter/NFIs and Humanitarian Disarmament and Peacebuilding (humanitarian mine action) sectors, using direct interventions, support to duty bearers and civil society organizations (CSOs), and partnerships with CSOs. DRC will continue and adapt its durable solutions portfolio to the evolving context.

Overall purpose of the role:

The Finance Assistant provides support for the day-to-day functioning of the DRC office and the implementation of DRC programmes in the area of responsibility. The Finance Assistant reports to Finance Manager, works closely with the logistics and programme staff to:

  • Ensure smooth and timely management for finance tasks
  • Support Program unit in terms of finance issues

Responsibilities:

  • Create Expenses in Dynamics, create Dynamics Journals, book cash transaction or other needed batches to Dynamics.
  • Ensure that advances and deposits are issued based on relevant approval and is settled according to DRC procedures.
  • Ensure that the cost description in the vouchers, cashbook, journals and that the quality of overall meets the DRC internal guidelines.
  • Ensure proper filing system for financial documents.
  • Ensure that scanned vouchers are sent to archive regularly.
  • Prepare payments made in cash, by check or via bank transfers in the existing DRC forms.
  • Provide proper Cash Book supportive documentation, ensure to finalize the soft and hard version of supportive documents in the Cash Book.
  • Ensure that DRC internal and donor specific procurement guidelines and procedures pertaining to conflict of interest and the international code of conduct are followed, enforced and met.
  • Ensure that all documentation is prepared in a transparent and accountable manner.
  • Ensure proper filing system for financial documents.
  • Provide the scanned vouchers and store on server on a daily basis. Attach scans to Dynamics batches.
  • Other administrative and logistics tasks as requested by management.
  • Understand, and ensure the observance of the DRC Code of Conduct.

Experience and technical competencies:

  • Microsoft Office, good/advanced Excel skills, preferred experience with ERP systems
  • Analytical and detail oriented
  • Previous experience in administration and finance or related area (minimum 1 year and more)

Education:

University degree in the related field or equivalent (Finance, Labor Economy, Management).

Languages:

  • Proficiency in written and spoken Ukrainian or Russian languages.
  • Basic English or above

We offer: Contract length: 3 month renewable after satisfactory probation period. Level: I non Manager Designation of Duty Station: Kyiv - Full time based

Start date: As soon as possible. Salary and conditions will be in accordance with Danish Refugee Council’s Terms of Employment for national staff.
