Org. Setting and Reporting The incumbent of this post is responsible to the Human Resources Career Management Officer (HRCMO).

Responsibilities The incumbent:

3.1.Organizes, designs and delivers staff and career development courses including language training and e-learning which are linked to staff and career development and performance management;

3.2.In consultation with HR Career Management Officer, identifies professional development training opportunities for staff members in his/her respective field and disseminates information on these opportunities to staff and coordinates delivery of the training, as required;

3.3.Responds to queries on staff and career development issues, and provides relevant advice and counseling to build confidence and to improve effectiveness through availing the knowledge and skills necessary for personal development;

3.4.Identifies and analyzes staff and organizational needs for career counseling and mentoring; designs and implements programmes to meet these needs; ensures that counseling activities are carried out with established ethical standards and in compliance with Agency regulations, guidelines and laws;

3.5.Coordinates with Recruitment and Performance Management Sections with regard to linkages between staff and career development opportunities, recruitment and performance management; ensures the incorporation of performance management in the career development of staff;

3.6 Oversees the compiling of information, data and staff development needs and requirements for submission to HR Career Management Officer, Head, Field Human Resources Office and the Human Resources Department in HQ (Amman), as required;

3.7 Oversees the development of policies and procedures in the area of staff and career development; develops written materials and guides job aides to be used for staff development purposes;

3.8 Establishes and maintains contacts and working relationships with local organizations in the area of management and leadership development and with external trainers and coordinates with other UN agencies and NGOs in this respect;

3.9 Prepares and monitors expenditure of the Field’s budget on staff training and development;

3.10 Trains Field staff, involved in giving local technical training, in basic training techniques;

Special Notice * Conditions of service:

Contract Status: - Fixed term Appointment for 3 years; including 1 year of probation period, with the possibility of further extension, subject to the availability of funds, satisfactory performance and continuing need. - Monthly basic salary: 838.20 USD - Grade: 15

* General information 1. This vacancy notice is open to internal and external candidates. As an Area post, only candidates who reside in Syria at the time of applications are eligible to apply.
