Org. Setting and Reporting

This position is located in the United Nations Interim Security Force for Abyei (UNISFA), duty station Kadugli. The Field Security Assistant reports to the Senior Security Officer or their designate. S/he will support and assist the Chief Security Officer (CSO) and Deputy Chief Security Officer (DCSO) in the Field Office to ensure safety and security of UN staff members, their dependents and UN facilities in Kadugli JBVMM.

Responsibilities

Within delegated authority, the Field Security Assistant will be responsible for the following duties: o Provide general operational and administrative support services to assist the security officers fulfil their duties to UN staff members and their dependents. o Assist with data consolidation and dissemination of relevant security information for analysis of the CSO/DCSO and Security Officers. o Assist security Officers with the preparation of any security related documents including security plans, regular security reports and any other reports related to security incidents/activities in the Kadugli Sector. o Provide support and security services to UNISFA personnel during the implementation of the security plan under the directions of the CSO/DCSO or the designated Security Officer in Kadugli. o Issue ID Cards to all UN staff members, their dependents, UN Individual Consultants/Contractors, visitors and other persons based on ID requests, approved by the CSO/DCSO or the designated Security Officer in Kadugli. o Process all ID requests timely and maintain up to date records in the specified files. o Ensure all ID cards are issued in accordance with the Global SOP and cards collected from the ID office are properly registered in the appropriate logbooks. o Control access of all UNISFA property and goods into and out of UN offices /warehouse and installations, whenever required by the Security officers. o Deny entry to unauthorized persons to UNISFA/UN Agencies compounds and installations. o Assist newly arrived personnel and visitors by providing them ID Cards upon approval of ID request forms by appropriate supervisor. o Assist in reviewing logistics requirements and other related actions required for the preparation and conduct of security training and exercises for the Kadugli JBVMM Sector. o Provides support in organizing and conducting security awareness and preparedness activities and provide security orientation/briefings for newly assigned staff members and visitors as required. o Submit weekly and monthly ID Tracking reports through the Security Officer to the Security Operations Center and Pass and ID Office in Abyei. o Perform any other duty as assigned by the Security Officer in charge of Kadugli Supervisor.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent is required.

Job - Specific Qualification

Specialized Security training/courses are desirable.

Work Experience

A minimum of three (03) years of relevant experience in Security or related areas such as Police and Military experience is required. The minimum years of relevant experience is reduced to 1 for candidates who possess a first-level university degree or higher. Previous work experience with security Pass and ID operations is desirable.

Languages

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this position, fluency in English and Arabic (both oral and written) is required.

Assessment

Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise which may be followed by competency-based interview.

Special Notice

This position is subject to local recruitment pursuant to staff rule 4.4 of the United Nations Staff Rules.
