Org. Setting and Reporting This position is located in the office of Safety and Security of the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS), Juba. The incumbent work under the overall guidance and supervision of Safety and Security Officer or his/her designate

Responsibilities Responsibilities Within delegated authority, the Field Security Assistant G-4 will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Assists in the operations of Security Pass & ID Unit.
  • Maintains and updates Security Pass & ID database.
  • Ensures issuance of UN ID cards to all United Nations Security Management System's (UNSMS) civilian staff, UNVs, UNPols, military staff officers, military contingents, and contractors in South Sudan.
  • Produces, Controls and Issues visitors' passes, ground passes and other gate passes required to enter within UN premises.
  • Assists to coordinate with the different focal points the production of ID cards for UN AFPs operating within the Mission area.
  • Maintains periodical inventory of the stocks of blank ID cards and accessories.
  • Ensures proper function of ID unit equipment, card readers, ON Pass system and reports any malfunctioning.
  • Drafts correspondence and maintains records for the Security Training Courses delivered to security and field mission’s personnel.
  • Provides support during the implementation of the Security Plan under the directions of the Chief Security Officer.
  • Assists to prepare daily and weekly work schedules and various periodic reports.
  • Assists to provide information and direction to all personnel associated with the Organization.
  • Assists in reviewing the logistics requirements and other related actions required for the preparation of training courses, drills and other security exercises.
  • Reports any potential or actual breach of security and any disturbance or unusual activity
  • Performs any other duties as required.

Education High school diploma or equivalent is required.

Work Experience At least three (3) years of progressive experience in all areas of security operations as well as previous experience with the police/military is required.

Experience working with UN/NGO or other international bodies is required.

Knowledge of a good computer skills is required

Have a valid driving license is required

Experience in information management with a military, police, National and/or international security management organization is desirable.

Languages Fluency in written and spoken English is required. Knowledge of other languages spoken in South Sudan is desirable.

Assessment Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise which may be followed by competency-based interview.
