IRC SAN DIEGO BACKGROUND****: Founded in 1933, the IRC is a leading organization providing relief, protection, and resettlement services for refugees and victims of oppression throughout the U.S. IRC in San Diego has resettled over 31,000 refugees to San Diego County over the past 48 years and provides numerous program services. In San Diego, the IRC opened its doors in 1975 and has grown to serve approximately 7,000 refugee and immigrant individuals from 115 countries of origin each year through 5 different departments.

SCOPE OF INTERN WORK: This internship offers an exceptional opportunity for current graduate or undergraduate students to gain firsthand exposure to the operations of a large international organization. Interns will apply Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL) concepts, processes, and tools to measure project success in a practical and impactful manner.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Collaborate closely with the MEAL Manager and program team to review and regularly update the activity catalog within the RAI Project database.

- Monitor the Efforts to Outcomes (ETO) accounts by coordinating with IRISETO to create and deactivate accounts as necessary.

- Support the MEAL Manager and program staff in identifying and eliminating duplicate data entries and updating any missing information in ETO.

- Assist the MEAL Manager in the preparation of the FY24 Impact Report.

- Perform other duties as assigned.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

1. Intern will gain experience in planning and execution of MEAL activities, which are critical for project success;

2. Intern will gain an understanding of the Efforts to Outcomes (ETO) database; and

3. Intern will develop an in-depth understanding of IRC Resettlement, Asylum, & Integration programming.

REQUIREMENTS:

- Currently enrolled graduate student or undergraduate student in a related field of International Relations/Development, Social Work, Global Human resources, Learning and Development; Non-Profit Management, International Business, or related field.

- Good understanding of qualitative and quantitative data analysis and data management.

- Strong writing skills.

- Excellent organization skills, strong communication, and interpersonal skills, and ability to collaborate effectively.

- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).

- Willingness to work on different types of tasks and projects.

- English fluency required.

- Experience with Powerbi and other MEAL-related software is a plus.

This position reports to the MEAL Manager

Compensation: This is an unpaid internship opportunity.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT: The Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL) Internship can be in-person is fully remote.

San Diego Office hours are scheduled Monday-Friday, 8:30am-5:00pm PST. Selected interns can choose their hours (10-20 hours per week) based on this window of availability.
