Job Description

General Duties:

Facilities Maintenance Assistant performs a variety of semiskilled duties in the areas of plumbing & electrical. Maintains, services, and conducts minor repairs of equipment. Being Facilities Maintenance Assistant complies with established safety guidelines and procedures. Reports to a supervisor or manager. Being a Facilities Maintenance Assistant works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. Possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. Collaborate with vendors on maintenance/repairs. Assists in developing and implement maintenance policies and procedures. Complete work with a high level of quality and reliability.

Specific Duties:

- Routinely inspecting electrical systems and plumbing such as wiring, fixtures, and plumbing appliances and immediate fix them. - Identifying faults or hazards in the properties for the (electrical, air conditioning, Plumbing, carpentry, landscape, constructional…etc) and address the issue to the line manager for an immediate fix. - Troubleshooting electrical, Mechanical, Plumbing system failures and ensuring it is always sustainable within the IRC premises. - To have the ability to fix/replace electrical cabling and wiring with standard performance. - Testing of electrical systems, air conditioning with testers and find out defaults for repair. - Conducting maintenance repairs on old or faulty fixtures of electrical system/Plumbing. - Providing suggestions for electrical equipment, cabling replacement and plumbing accessories. - Installing new emergency appliances in the building when necessary - To understand the power and installation system of solar panels and recommend solar power standardization.

Qualifications

- Education: 14th Grade Degree in electrical field (bachelor’s degree is preferred) - Years of Experience: At least 1 to 2 years progressive work experience in same field with commercial, UN or other NGOs - Skills: Ability to write reports and have knowledge of email writing and MS. Office programmes. - Spoken and written English fluency preferably with command of Pashto and Dari. - Technical Competency: - Communication and reporting skills - Fluency in Pashto, Dari and English - Computer skills (including MS Word, Excel, Access, and internet) an advantage - Ability to work closely, professionally, and constructively with all others regardless of nationality, ethnicity, gender, religion, race, tribe, or cultural background
