Assignment background

This year marks a historic milestone for UNICEF: the 80th anniversary of the organization’s founding and 80 years of its work in Croatia. UNICEF aims to reinforce its continued relevance as a vital and forward-looking organization that supports children and families in Croatia and in the world. The anniversary serves to strengthen brand and emotional connection with the public, while showcasing eight decades of impact across health, education, child protection, and social inclusion. The celebration of this important anniversary will be focused on a series of communication activities throughout 2026, culminating in an event planned for the end of the year.

How can you make a difference?

UNICEF Office for Croatia is looking for an Event Production and Organization Coordinator to support UNICEF Croatia in the organization of an event to celebrate UNICEF's 80th anniversary, through production and organizational services, ensuring seamless coordination between venue, partners, technical teams, and UNICEF stakeholders.

The consultancy service will be delivered under the overall coordination, management and technical guidance of of the Communication Section Head.

Scope of Work/Objectives:

Under the overall coordination, management and technical guidance of UNICEF staff, the consultant is expected to:

  • Support UNICEF with overall project planning and timeline, including a communication plan, budget projection, and reporting framework.
  • Handle venue-related tasks, including contract details, compliance with technical and safety standards, and management of access, permits, and accreditation.
  • Coordinate with key participants and their teams, including outreach, schedules, technical needs, onsite support, hospitality, and all related logistics.
  • Oversee technical production, prepare technical documentation, liaise with technical teams and vendors, and lead show calling during the event.
  • Manage coordination with UNICEF, sponsors, and partners for branding, hospitality, content integration, and support for promotion and media activities.
  • Supervise event-day operations, including show execution, audience flow and safety, risk management, and any other related tasks requested by the organizers.

Assignment duration****: Through 31 December 2026.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will need to possess the required knowledge, skills and expertise:

Payment of professional fees will be based on submission of agreed deliverables. UNICEF reserves the right to withhold payment in case the deliverables submitted are not up to the required standard or in case of delays in submitting the deliverables on the part of the consultant.

Individuals engaged under a consultancy or individual contract will not be considered “staff members” under the Staff Regulations and Rules of the United Nations and UNICEF’s policies and procedures and will not be entitled to benefits provided therein (such as leave entitlements and medical insurance coverage). Their conditions of service will be governed by their contract and the General Conditions of Contracts for the Services of Consultants and Individual Contractors.

Consultants and individual contractors are responsible for determining their tax liabilities and for the payment of any taxes and/or duties, in accordance with local or other applicable laws.

The selected candidate is solely responsible for ensuring that the visa (if applicable) and health insurance required to perform the duties of the contract are valid for the entire period of the contract. Selected candidates are subject to confirmation of fully vaccinated status against SARS-CoV-2 (Covid-19) with a World Health Organization (WHO)-endorsed vaccine, which must be met prior to taking up the assignment. It does not apply to consultants who will work remotely and are not expected to work on or visit UNICEF premises, program delivery locations or directly interact with communities UNICEF works with, nor to travel to perform functions for UNICEF for the duration of their consultancy contracts.
