Contract

This is a ICRC - Traineeship contract. More about ICRC - Traineeship contracts.

What we do

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) works worldwide to provide protection and humanitarian assistance to people affected by conflict and armed violence. We take action in response to emergencies and, at the same time, promote respect for international humanitarian law. We are an independent and neutral organization, and our mandate stems essentially from the Geneva Conventions of 1949. We work closely with the National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies and their International Federation to ensure a concerted, rational, and rapid humanitarian response to the needs of the victims of armed conflict or any other situation of internal violence. We direct and coordinate the international activities conducted in these situations.

Purpose

The Associate will be positioned within the Evaluation Office, a part of the Executive Office of the Director-General (EODG). This office is tasked with the critical function of offering centralized oversight, alongside developing and refining the International Committee of the Red Cross's (ICRC) strategies, guidelines, and systems for evaluation to ensure that learning is both high-quality and effectively integrated. The Evaluation Office plays a pivotal role across the ICRC by engaging in collaborative efforts to pinpoint priorities, enhance existing good practices, and meet the evolving needs related to evaluation planning and management. Moreover, it provides expert guidance on the commissioning and oversight of decentralized evaluations, catering to the specific requests of the commissioning teams.

Duties encompass regular review of evaluation statuses, inputting evaluation metadata into the Device Magic system, and creating visual representations of data with Tableau.
  • Communication and Outreach: Actively participate in executing the Evaluation Office's communication and outreach initiatives. This includes aiding in publishing and distributing evaluation reports and findings, coordinating significant events like Evaluation Forums, and assisting in capacity-building and training endeavors as needed.
  • Team Coordination and Meeting Organization: Facilitate the organization of regular team gatherings and coordinate the scheduling of project-related activities. This also covers the preparation for meetings and the documentation of decisions made.
  • Ad-hoc Support: Provide comprehensive support by undertaking various duties as needed, including administrative tasks, to ensure the smooth functioning of the Evaluation Office.
