Plan International envisages a world in which all children and young people realize their full potential, a vision now shared by the 193 Heads of State and Government who adopted the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in September 2015.

In Bangladesh, we have set our vision for 2030 as, ‘We will partner to empower girls and young women, to be heard, to live without fear of violence and to achieve their rights’. We have started the new country strategy in July 2020 aiming to achieve this exciting and ambitious vision. This would require the organization to have an effective, efficient and committed workforce willing to challenge the prevailing status quo, engaging men, women, boys, youth people, especially girls and bringing the best out of all to create synergy for movement at all levels – from community to national, and beyond.

The Role:

The Environmental Social and Climate Resilient Expert will integrate environmental sustainability, social inclusivity, and climate resilience within the project. She/he adheres to environmental management frameworks, promotes sustainable practices, and contributes to Plan International’s vision of resilient communities.

Aligned with organizational strategies, this role will drive change by infusing environmental considerations, social safeguards, and climate resilience into program interventions. She/he crafts site-specific plans to address local challenges effectively, fostering community engagement and ensuring equitable distribution of project benefits. Moreover, Expert will strengthen resilience to climate change, advancing the organization's goal of sustainable and thriving communities resilient to environmental challenges. This role will lead by example in promoting environmental sustainability, fostering social inclusion, and enhancing climate resilience, embodying Plan International and Bangladesh's commitment to a sustainable future.

What we’re looking for:

We need a self-motivated and energetic individual with Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Climate Change, Geography, Development Studies, Social Science, or relevant discipline from a reputable university along with Ten (10) years of proven specific experience in environmental management, social safeguards, and climate resilience. She/he should be proficient in undertaking monitoring and follow-up activities to ensure the implementation of proposed mitigation measures according to agreed-upon plans. Also, have the ability to prepare comprehensive reports on safeguard risks, including monthly, quarterly, and field monitoring reports, and ensure timely actions are taken to address identified risks. Should have experience in leading the development and delivery of spot checks to ensure proper implementation of safeguard policies at the grassroots level, in line with organizational guidelines along with demonstrated capability to integrate safeguard assessment information and complete safeguard self-screening checklists during project/program development processes. Should be an expert in compiling quarterly, biannual, and annual reports on safeguard-related issues and delivering them as part of the Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) report, contributing to continuous improvement and learning within the organization.
