Environmental Health (EH) Manager
Job Description
- Support the EH team to mobilize communities and individuals of different age groups to identify priority public health issues, hygiene promotion activities and take the appropriate actions to address them.
- Manage and quality control of all aspects of the project.
- Ensure budget utilization and physical target achievements are reviewed.
- Anticipate and mitigate risks and trouble-shoot any unforeseen challenges during the project implementation
- Regular update the work plan, output tracker, staff management forms and other documents relevant for effective project management
- Promote and share ideas for improvement and necessary changes in the activities.
- Provide regular progress reports to Area Manager and Head of Programs
- Work in close collaboration with livelihoods and Protection teams to ensure beneficiaries are provided with adequate services.
- Liaise and collaborate with relevant local authorities (RIC Management) and other key stakeholders.
- Contribute to EH strategy development, project proposal and provide input on needs and gaps.
- Ensure that the IRC Way is incorporated in all program activities
- Comply with IRC’s security protocols;
Grants Management
- Responsible for the overall achievement and implementation of EH related grants.
- Ensures high-quality and timely reports.
- Contributes to grant amendments.
- Is familiar with donor regulations.
- Participates in grant review meetings.
- Maintains regular communication with donors in the field.
Budget
- Is in charge of the EH budgets.
- Reviews spending and financial reports.
Supply Chain & Logistics
- S/He is familiar with relevant internal processes.
- Develop timely procurement plans for the EH program.
- Submit purchase requests in a timely manner.
- Contributes to quality checks and procurement committees to finalize suppliers’ selection according to applicable scenario.
- Ensure a proper management and use of the project assets and stocks.
- Is in charge of the management of the stock assigned to the project.
- Plans team movements based on available fleet and applicable policies.
Human Resources
- Recruits and trains EH staff.
- Ensure that project staff understand and are able to perform their roles and responsibilities.
- Ensure capacity building of project staff and transfer key skills.
- Follow-up the work plans and day-to-day activities of the project staff.
- Manages the project staff according to the HR manual and the labor law.
- Ensure a positive working environment and good team dynamics.
- Undertake regular appraisals of staff performance.
Qualifications
- Relevant experience in WASH programming and in project management roles.
- Experience in community mobilization and hygiene promotion.
- Strong coordination and interpersonal skills.
- Flexibility to work with changing demands in a volatile environment.
- Excellent capacity in using Microsoft Office.
- Solution oriented individual.
- Strong cross cultural skills and experience working in multicultural environments.
- Oral and written fluency in Greek and English.
