Overview

Collect data on projects and programmes to facilitate real-time reporting and decision making.

You have:

• A minimum of bachelor’s degree in agriculture, fisheries, rural development, sociology, social sciences, statistics, or related field.
• A minimum of 1 year experience in quantitative/qualitative data collection related to relevant sectors including agriculture, food security and nutrition, and livelihoods, amongst others.
• Working knowledge of English.
• National of Ghana or resident of the country with valid work permit.

The primary goal of FAO Country Offices is to aid governments in creating policies, programs, and projects that secure food security and diminish hunger and malnutrition. They also support the development of agriculture, fisheries, and forestry, ensuring the sustainable use of environmental and natural resources.

FAO Ghana is implementing two projects aiming at strengthening climate resilience and improving livelihoods of rural communities in the Upper East and Savannah regions: Strengthening Resilience of vulnerable Communities in Northern Ghana Through Climate-Resilient Livelihoods and Integrated Environmental Practices and Increasing Climate Resilient and Improving Farmers Livelihoods in the Upper East Region. The projects aim to improve food and nutrition security and sustainable livelihoods for vulnerable rural farming populations in four selected districts of the Savannah and Upper East regions of Ghana. The overall goal of the projects is to contribute to improved food and nutrition security and resilience of vulnerable households. The projects will also provide technical assistance to the Government of Ghana to promote early warning and early action systems that will empower communities to respond proactively to climatic changes. Both projects require credible data for performance measurement and timely decision making as specific requirements of FAO Ghana and the donors – the Kingdom of Norway and Canada.

Reporting Lines

The enumerator will work under the overall supervision and guidance of the FAO Representative in Ghana, the technical guidance of the Lead Technical Officer (LTO), the direct supervision of the Project Manager and in close cooperation with the National Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Specialists.

Technical Focus

The enumerator will be responsible for collecting data on projects and programmes to facilitate real-time reporting and decision making.

Tasks and responsibilities

• Participate in the training on baseline, midline, endline research evaluation methodology and pre-testing of the data collection tools. • Ensure informed consent from the respondents. • Maintain confidentiality and ethical standards. • Administer survey instruments in the respective project sites. • Report daily progress to the supervisor. • Flag any issues or inconsistencies during data collection. • Participate in feedback sessions. • Undertake other assigned tasks.

CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING

Minimum Requirements

• A minimum of bachelor’s degree in agriculture, fisheries, rural development, sociology, social sciences, statistics, or related field. • A minimum of 1 year experience in quantitative/qualitative data collection related to relevant sectors including agriculture, food security and nutrition, and livelihoods, amongst others. • Working knowledge of English. • National of Ghana or resident of the country with valid work permit.

Technical/Functional Skills

• Strong technological skills with hands-on experience in mobile-based data collection systems like ODK, Kobo Collect, amongst others. • Hands on experience in quantitative and qualitative data collection. • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including mobilization of rural communities. • Experience in working with women’s groups, farmer organizations and civil society is desirable. • Availability to work full-time during the period of data collection. • Ability to conduct fieldwork in rural settings. • Ability to use a motorbike to reach remote locations is required. • Field experience in northern Ghana; prior work experience in Upper East or Savannah regions is a strong asset. • Ability to communicate well in the local languages is required: o Upper East Region (Builsa South, Kassena-Nankana west districts): Grune/Kasena/Twi. o Savannah Region (Central Gonja, Sawla-Tuna-Kalba districts): Gonja/Brifor/Twi.
