Job Description

Job Overview: The Enhanced Services Caseworker will provide case management assistance to Asylees, VOTs, and other qualified immigrants to ensure the best possible initial services experience and comprehensive access to public benefits. These services will improve the quality of life for low-income immigrants in Stanislaus, San Joaquin, Merced, and other surrounding counties by ensuring that, in the short-term, basic needs are met and allowing long-term attainment of self-sufficiency. The caseworker will link enrolled clients to resources in the community and act as the primary point of coordination for referrals. It is a role requiring both expertise working with vulnerable populations and comfortability supporting the launch of new programming. The Caseworker will operate under close supervision with moderate latitude for the use of independent discernment and initiative. This position will report directly to the Safety & Wellness Manager.

Major Responsibilities:

- Screen for eligible clients based on their immigration status and length of time in the U.S., successfully enrolling eligible clients into the program. - Provide direct, comprehensive case management services to ensure acute needs are met in a timely and culturally appropriate manner for each program participant. - Provide support for clients accessing public benefits, housing, mental health services, and medical care through assessment and evaluation of each client’s distinct needs. - Independently develop reasonable initial service and/or self-sufficiency plans and timelines for each client and manager client expectations. - Ensure that clients are provided the basic tools necessary to meet their established short-term goals and objectives. - Assess and monitor client progress at regular intervals to ensure progress on goals is made, designated resources are maximized, and modify initial service plans and other case file documents as required. - Provide outreach and training to community partners including healthcare providers, law enforcement, educational institutions, non-profit organizations, and other social service agencies. - Travel regularly throughout the service delivery area (home visits, agency visits, service provider visits, etc.) - Maintain case file documentation, including clear and concise case notes and maintain internal tracking systems and data collection. - Assist with reporting on program objectives, accomplishments, and data. - Participate in all program meetings, staff development activities, trauma-informed care trainings, and fully engages as a member of the team. - Comply with all policies, procedures, and protocols of the agency. - Stay up to date with all U.S. immigration policy changes and developments, as well as local issues relating to immigrants. - Other related duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

- BA degree with an emphasis in Social Work, Migration Studies, Public Health, Refugee Studies, Development, Immigration Law, or an equivalent field of study; or 2+ years of related professional experience; preferably with asylum or VOT persons. - Demonstrated relevant work experience (in addition to the above) in human services field, preferably in a non-profit or social services agency environment. Experience should include provision of direct service to underserved communities. - Previous multi-cultural experience and demonstrated ability to communicate well with people of varied backgrounds strongly preferred. - Comfortability collaborating with governmental agencies and community providers.

- Excellent communication skills, with fluence in written and spoken English - Proficiency in one or more other languages strongly desired.

- Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, Outlook) and strong keyboarding skills and internet usage and research skills. - Prior experience using data and tracking systems strongly preferred. - Attention to detail and ability to organize and track large amounts of information efficiently and accurately. - Commitment to teamwork and collaboration across all of IRC’s programs. - Valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle with up-to-date insurance, and the ability to travel regularly throughout the service delivery area.

Working Environment:

- A combination of standard office environment, remote work, and ‘field’ time within the service delivery area to perform the above outlined responsibilities. - Offices hours are scheduled as Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm; may require some evening and weekend work
