- Proven experience in professional proofreading and editing in Turkish, especially for official and advocacy documents. Specifically experience in public health and working on documents with relevant topic is an asset.
- Advanced editing skills with a focus on improving clarity, coherence, and readability of complex texts.
- Strong understanding of human rights-based communication principles and non-ableist language standards.
- Familiarity with mental health terminology and rights-based narratives is considered a strong asset.
- Degree in communications, literature, psychology, public health, translation, social sciences, or related fields preferred.

This assignment is part of WHO Türkiye’s preparation for the September Suicide Prevention Workshop and directly supports the organization’s work under the WHO Global Health Strategy 2025–2028 (GPW 14) to promote health equity, mental health awareness, and community empowerment. Improving the clarity, inclusiveness, and accessibility of communication materials is essential to ensure that key messages about mental health and suicide prevention reach all audiences, particularly persons with disabilities, youth, and other marginalized groups.
We are seeking 2 Online Volunteers to edit and proofread about 15-page document written in Turkish on mental health, suicide prevention, and review with rights-based approach. The Online Volunteers will be responsible for: • Reviewing and correcting grammar, spelling, punctuation, and syntax errors; • Editing long and complex sentences to ensure that the document is clear, concise, and easy to understand; • Ensuring that the language is fully non-ableist, inclusive, and aligned with a human rights-based approach, in accordance with WHO and UN Disability Inclusion Strategy (UNDIS) standards in addition to the official Turkish documents; • Preserving the original meaning and structure while significantly improving the style, flow, and accessibility of the document for diverse audiences, including persons with disabilities and non-expert readers; • Delivering a professionally edited version ready for public dissemination or workshop use. Additionally, Online Volunteers are expected to participate in one preparatory training and briefing sessions organized by WHO Türkiye’s Mental Health and Communication Teams, focusing on WHO’s editorial standards, rights-based language use, and non-ableist communication principles.
The training and briefing sessions aim to ensure consistency and quality across all editing tasks.
