Learning for Nature is the premier e-learning platform by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). It offers an extensive portfolio of e-learning offerings to promote best practices in conservation and sustainable development and develop the capacity of biodiversity policymakers, practitioners, and local and Indigenous communities.
The Ecosystem Restoration MOOC will be offered by the The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) in English, French, and Spanish. This twelve-week course compiles research from leading institutions engaged in ecosystem restoration and experts in the field to raise awareness and build ecosystem restoration capacity. The course is geared to government representatives interested in creating a blueprint for ecosystem restoration at the national or subnational level, but is open to everyone.
UNDP is looking for two Online Volunteers to help translate video lectures in the micro-course "Using Spatial Data for Biodiversity" from English to Russian and Portuguese. Specifically, this task involves translating 6 short video lecture scripts from English to Portuguese, or English to Russian and adding the translated scripts as subtitles on Youtube. It will also involve translating supplementary resources (Word documents) for the course, and creating GIFs in either Russian or Portuguese.
We will select one Online Volunteer per language to conduct the translation and subtitle. The online volunteers will be introduced to the work of the Learning for Nature and UN Biodiversity Lab teams at UNDP and will collaborate with other volunteers on the team.
Application is open for all nationalities. Candidates should have a native-level knowledge of Russian if applying for the Russian position, and a native-level of Portuguese if applying for the Portuguese position. Fluency in English is required. Professional experience in translation will be considered an advantage.
