The Data & Insights Thematic Team as cross-cutting enabler within the Policy and Programme Coherence Unit supports coherent and effective use of data and evidence across UNDP Ukraine.
Online Volunteers will monitor the published Ukrainian and international evidence base, i.e., online news, institutional publications, assessments and research outputs, and map what they review against a defined Analytical Framework.
A Secondary Data Review (SDR) is a research technique used to obtain information to create a clear analytical overview. An analyst undertaking an SDR takes into account multiple pieces of secondary data in order to create as coherent as possible picture on a specific topic.

The volunteer will maintain a rolling desk review of published secondary material (3-4 hours per day) in support of UNDP Ukraine's program management activities, in particular, this will require: • Monitor a defined set of online news outlets, institutional publications, assessments and research outputs, screening newly published material against agreed relevance criteria. • Record sources in the shared tracker with complete metadata to ensure traceability and avoid duplication. • Review logged materials and tag documents, web pages, and reports according to the provided Analytical Framework. • Verify the accuracy and consistency of information during the review; flag outdated or conflicting data for validation. • Capture the key messages in English within the review record using freely available automated translation tools for a first pass. • Edit and format Secondary Data Review outputs for clarity and consistency. • Provide reviewed and formatted content for internal knowledge products, including Biweekly Digests, Thematic Digests, Community Profiles, etc.
The Online Volunteers will receive an onboarding training, weekly e-meetings, regular feedback and support with regard to the task.
Assessment Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise which may be followed by an interview.

Education:
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent, or current enrolment in the final year of a Bachelor's programme • Relevant fields include, but are not limited to: economics, law, public policy and public administration, international relations, political science, sociology and anthropology, history, journalism and media studies, philology, linguistics and translation studies, library and information science, geography and urban planning, environmental studies, public health, education, and data or information science. • Candidates from other academic backgrounds are encouraged to apply where they can demonstrate the skills set out below.
Experience:
• At least 1 year of experience in an analytical function, performing reviews, drafting reports, and briefs. • Strong analytical and writing skills as well as the ability to provide and present data in a concise manner, are required. • Knowledge of the international development context (desirable). • Deep understanding of the Ukrainian context, awareness of key political and state authorities, and main processes related to recovery and development in Ukraine. • Solid overall computer literacy.
