The paper's goal is to discuss an institutional explanation for income inequality’s persistence in the country with one of the worst inequality in the world, Brazil. The text (around 8000 words), which needs English proofreading, employed a process-tracing method to explore the causes of the continuity of the unequal distribution in Brazil. The selected online volunteer will receive the text as soon as the selection is finished. Any support will be provided via email. To help the selection process, a short text for translation will be sent to the shortlisted candidates in order to help the opportunity's assessment. Online Volunteer will receive a certificate of appreciation for their contributions and be acknowledged in the final publication of the document.

    The Institute for Applied Economic Research (Ipea) is a public institution that provides technical support to the federal government with regard to public policies: fiscal, social and economic. Ipea’s mission is to “enhance public policies that are essential to Brazilian development by producing and disseminating knowledge and by advising the state in its strategic decisions.” Its structure is divided into departments dedicated to different studies and policies. In this context, the paper submitted for proofreading is part of an ongoing broad research Project that aims to analyze how political and economic institutions affect the country development.

  • 6-10 hours per week / 2 weeks

    An English native speaker with professional experience. Familiarity with technical terms related to public administration and social sciences. As part of the selection process, shortlisted applicants will be asked to submit a short translation test. Please upload your CV in English when applying.
