You have:
- Previous experience in translation (English-Portuguese & Portuguese-English) is required.
- Knowledge of the UN terminology and relevant topics such as Youth, Peace and Security, Women, Peace and Security, entrepreneurship, education, and capacity building is essential.
- Previous experience translating for international organizations is desirable.

We are looking for one volunteers who will be willing to translate and proofread written outputs on an ad hoc basis. The task specifically involves the translation and proofreading of project documents pertaining to youth and women empowerment from English-Portuguese & Portuguese-English. The volunteer will be contacted based on necessity and expected to provide translation support with the utmost professionalism. Weekly tasks are estimated to 1,250 words for translation and 8 pages for proofreading. Deadlines for respective tasks will be mutually agreed upon.

United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) is a training arm of the UN system with a mandate related to building capacities for the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development through outcome-based training and learning initiatives. The Division for Peace strives to support the (re-)establishment of peaceful, just and inclusive societies by enabling individuals, institutions and organizations to contribute meaningfully to sustainable peace. Against this backdrop, our work within the Youth and Women's Empowerment team is focused around Youth and Women's Empowerment in Fragile Contexts. The nature of our written outputs varies, but includes reports, project documents, handbooks, learning materials, website content, etc.

6-10 hours per week / 15 weeks
Previous experience in translation (English-Portuguese & Portuguese-English); Knowledge of the UN terminology and terminology related to Youth, Peace and Security, Women, Peace and Security, entrepreneurship, education, capacity building; Previous experience in translation for international organizations is desirable.
