Overview

Develop and implement English Language Instruction classes.

You have:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, preferably in the areas of education, or social work.
  • TEFL (Teaching English as a foreign language) certification required, BEST certification preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience with teaching literacy or English as a second language.
  • Excellent communication skills, with fluency in written and spoken English. Bilingual ability in one of the predominant languages of the local client base is desired.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Valid driver’s license, access to reliable vehicle with current insurance, and the ability to travel regularly throughout the service delivery area.
  • Ability to work hours conducive to meeting with middle and high school students outside of school.

Length of Assignment: End September 30, 2025, potential to extend.

Responsibilities:

• Using existing curriculum, develop and implement ELI classes to be held at the IRC. Differentiate teaching segments to meet the needs of pre-literate clients as well as literate clients.

• Work with the Volunteer Coordinator to recruit volunteers for ELI programming to assist in classroom instruction, and as English conversation partners

• Assess barriers to attendance and provide access to ELI outside of regular business hours by hosting classes at alternate times and locations, utilizing trained volunteers and developing external referrals and follow up for ELI resources.

• Provide pre and post instruction testing to all ELI clients

• Maintain client files and documentation

• Ensure timely and accurate compliance to all reporting requirements.

• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Compensation: Posted pay ranges apply to US-based candidates. Ranges are based on various factors including the labor market, job type, internal equity, and budget. Exact offers are calibrated by work location, individual candidate experience and skills relative to the defined job requirements.
