Expected duration The proposed Consultant will be hired for 187 working days staggered over a period from 20 June 2022 up to 30 June 2023.

Duties and Responsibilities The United Nations Global Service Centre (UNGSC) provides critical Supply Chain, Geospatial Information and Telecommunications Technologies services and training to all Peacekeeping and Special Political Missions around the world as well as to other UN Offices, Agencies Funds and Programs.

This position is located in the Technical Cell of Campus Support Unit, within the Central Service (CS), at the UNGSC, Brindisi, Italy.

The incumbent reports to and works under the supervision of the Chief Campus Support Unit.

The Technical Cell of Campus Support Unit is responsible for the maintenance of GSC facilities and is seeking for an Electrical engineer and fire-fighting designer to be employed for the following construction projects:

1. Electrical and plumbing executive design and certification of the sauna, Bldg. 129 and Bldg. 131 located on the seafront side of the UNGSC compound. 2. Electrical executive design and certification of the canopy adjacent to Bldg. 241 located on the logistic side of the UNGSC compound. 3. Electrical executive design and certification of the substation adjacent to Bldg. 144 located on the administrative side of the UNGSC compound. The works includes the electrical executive design and certification of the connect of Bldgs. 96 and 135 to the substation adjacent to Bldg. 144 located on the administrative side of the UNGSC compound. 4. Executive design and certification of the chimney installed at Bldg. 4 located on the logistic side of the UNGSC compound. 5. Firefighting executive design of the workshop at Bldg. 241 located on the logistic side of the UNGSC compound. 6. Electrical executive design of the air extraction and treatment systems at Bldg. 254, 92, 137, 94 and Bldg. B.

The incumbent will be responsible to perform the following duties: 1. Inspection and survey of existing sites, utilities, equipment, systems and connections; 2. Preliminary assessment that includes: 2.1. Analysis and evaluation of various solutions; 2.2. Schematic drawings; 2.3. Advice on its constructability; 2.4. Statement of construction cost estimation for each option, if needed; 3. Executive electrical and firefighting designs that includes: 3.1. Scope of Works: technical specifications, drawings and other graphics, design of the different parts and components of the systems; 3.2. Bill of Quantities if necessary: description of works, quantities, units, rate costs, amount with summary sheet. 3.3. Preparation of detailed method of work for the implementation of the projects (if any). 4. Preparation of a works programs for execution of each activity (Gantt Chart).

Qualifications/special skills Licenses & Certificates: Registration to the Professional Board of fire-fighting sector “Professionista Antincendio” of the Italian Minister of the Interior, as per art. 16 of the Italian Legislative Decree No. 139 dated 8 March 2006 and D.P.R. n. 151 dated 1 August 2011.

Certificate of attendance to specific refresher 40-hours course, to be carried out during the following five years after the registration to the Professional Board of “Professionisti Antincendio”

Enrollment in the respective Italian Professional Boards is required. Academic Qualifications: University Degree in Engineering or Architecture is required. Experience: A Minimum of five (5) years continuous experience as electrical and firefighting designer. Language: English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this post fluency in oral and written English is required.
