You have:
- Minimum 1 year of relevant experience within the field of expertise (education including psychosocial support/psychology or other relevant fields).
- Ability to remain calm and professional in tense situations.
- Good English skills both written and verbal.
- Fluent in Ukrainian.
- Technical specific knowledge in conducting training for adults (e.g., Teacher training, Training of trainers, vocational training) is an asset.
- Knowledge of the education system in Ukraine, experience working with youth through recreation is an asset.
- Knowledge of the basics of psychosocial support in education, experience in Psychosocial Support programming in education is an asset.
- Experience supporting education-related grants, school planning processes, or small-scale financial follow-up is an asset.
The purpose of the Technical Assistant position is to provide technical and administrative support for the effective implementation of NRC’s Education projects in the East Area Office. This includes supporting both hard (infrastructure improvement) and soft (PSS-BLP, capacity building, learning support) components of the Education programme.
Qualifications

- Experience working in a humanitarian/recovery context, technical-specific knowledge of the humanitarian sector is an asset.

Context-related skills, knowledge, and experience:

Responsibilities
Generic responsibilities:
- Adhere to NRC policies, guidance, and procedures, ensuring alignment with organizational standards and donor requirements for effective project implementation.
- Promote strict adherence to Child Safeguarding in all activities and professional interactions, ensuring the safety and well-being of children.
- Participate in implementation of the education project according to the plan of action.
- Target beneficiaries most in need of protection and regularly assess innovative and improved ways to assist them.
- Support in collaboration effectively with local authorities, community leaders, and key stakeholders to ensure effective program success and sustainability.
- Advocate for the rights of IDPs/returnees through the implementation of the advocacy strategy.
- Provide notification of necessary improvements in programme implementation to effectively address emerging needs and trends.
- Ensure precise and timely reporting of activities by the team and coordinate with colleagues to resolve challenges.
- Facilitate the integration of cross-cutting specificities, such as gender and protection, into all program activities.
- Participate in regular team meetings, training, and workshops to enhance professional competencies and ensure effective program quality.
Specific responsibilities:
- Develop, update, and implement detailed own work plans, ensuring coherence with NRC’s strategic objectives and operational standards.
- Support the organization and facilitation of trainings for teachers, youth, and community members, including within the Better Learning Programme (BLP) and other psychosocial support initiatives.
- Support the implementation of the Better Learning Programme (BLP) activities in schools and learning spaces, including preparation of materials, coordination with facilitators, and monitoring sessions.
- Collect and consolidate information from field activities, support reporting and documentation efforts, support comprehensive education needs assessments to identify priorities and gaps at school and community levels, integrating stakeholder input effectively.
- Visit project locations to monitor activities and provide hands-on support to education staff and partners.
- Responsible for organizing delegated requests to the procurement and logistics departments to obtain needs for programme implementation.
- Maintain up-to-date tracking of distributions and participation in education activities.
- Support with translation and interpretation (Ukrainian - English) as needed.
- Support in providing guidance, quality monitoring, and proper documentation at all stages of school rehabilitation process.
- Support the tracking of the implementation and follow-up of school grants and School Improvement Plans, including coordination with schools, collection of required documentation, and monitoring the use of funds in line with NRC guidelines.
