Major Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Curriculum Development & Delivery

- Lead daily classroom activities for the IRC My New School After School Program at school site(s). Managing an average classroom size of 20 youth with support from other staff and volunteers. - Administrate regular pre-post assessment to capture student needs and growth. - Support design and implementation of daily after school lessons and workshops in line with IRC’s Framework for Social Emotional Asset Development Toolkit. - Develops curriculum and conducts school cultural orientation sessions on topics appropriate to youth and caregivers who recently arrived in the United States in both home visit or group workshop setting.

Family and Community Engagement:

- Utilize interpretation services to conduct family outreach and provide systems navigation and support to improve family’s connection to school and student(s) engagement in school. - Coordinate recruitment for each 8-week cohort of approximately 20 students for the My New School After school program; leading family outreach, requesting staff referrals, and working with community partners to recruit required number of students to meet program goals. - Build and maintain good relationships with school personnel and work with school staff to conduct targeted student recruitment. - Collaborate with external partners, serving as a liaison between organizations. - Maintain regular communication with parents and help facilitate internal and external referrals.

Administrative and General Support:

- Enter data and case notes into IRC systems to accurately record program data to ensure program quality, compliance, measure and report outcomes, and facilitate internal learning - Attend Youth Education Team meetings and complete administrative duties, including but not timesheets and expense reports.

- Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in education, social work or related field of study preferred.

Work Experience:

- Minimum of two years related professional experience working in an education or youth program setting. - In-depth knowledge of local education systems - Responsive Classrooms and/or Restorative Justice trained, highly desirable - Experience working with refugee and/or immigrant populations, highly desirable.

Demonstrated Skills & Competencies:

- Demonstrated ability to promote an organizational culture that reflects IRC’s core values of service, accountability, integrity, and equality. Ability to lead in a way that recognizes that IRC’s work is best accomplished through the true collaboration of individuals from many cultures with a great variety of skills and perspectives. - Demonstrated skills in lesson and/or workshop planning and facilitation, preferably with multilingual learners - Strong relationship building, diplomacy, and networking skills; ability to effectively build internal and external relationships. - Demonstrated success working and communicating effectively in a multi-cultural environment. - Self-starter with excellent problem-solving skills combined with the proven ability to prioritize and manage time effectively. - Attention to detail and accuracy in work product. - Fluent in English, both spoken and written; proficiency in language(s) spoken by client group is desired. - Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook); ability to use the internet and other digital tools for data entry, research, and problem-solving purposes. - Fluent in predominant language of local client a plus but not required (Dari, Pashto, Arabic, Swahili, Kinyarwanda, etc.). - Valid driver’s license and access to a personal, insured vehicle.

Working Environment:

- A combination of standard office environment, remote work, and ‘field’ time within the service delivery area to perform the above outlined responsibilities. - Occasional domestic (non-local) travel required; up to 10%. - Requires availability to work until 6:00pm on days during after school program delivery. - May require occasional weekend hours.

Compensation: Posted pay ranges apply to US-based candidates. Ranges are based on various factors including the labor market, job type, internal equity, and budget. Exact offers are calibrated by work location, individual candidate experience and skills relative to the defined job requirement.
