Lead editorial production of the UNESCO Courier and ensure content quality.

You have:

  • Advanced university degree(s) (Master's or equivalent) in communication, journalism and/or related field of political science and international cooperation.
  • A minimum of seven (7) years of progressively responsible and relevant professional experience in communication or journalism, with at least five years at the international level.
  • Cross-media editorial experience.
  • Experience in leading and managing human and financial resources and motivating staff in a multicultural environment.
  • Excellent writing and editorial skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Strong management and organizational skills with ability to establish plans and priorities and effectively implement them.
  • Good interpersonal and representational analytical skills and demonstrated ability to communicate, advocate, and negotiate with staff and contractants/stakeholders/partners at all levels within and outside the Organization.
  • Excellent knowledge (oral and written) of one of the official working languages of the Secretariat (English or French) and very good knowledge of the other official working language.

Contract

This is a P-4 contract. This kind of contract is known as Professional and Director staff. It is normally internationally recruited only. It's a staff contract. It usually requires 7 years of experience, depending on education.

Salary

The salary for this job should be between 140,549 USD and 181,208 USD.

For each issue, elaborate a detailed table of content with themes, subjects, articles and related angles as well as authors' name taking into account geographical and gender balances and the different areas of UNESCO's mandate. Long Description ---------------- - Ensure quality and coherence of the content development of the *UNESCO Courier.* Manage and coordinate all the editorial processes from conception of each edition to publication. Participate in the overall coordination of the preparation of the *UNESCO Courier* and the distribution of its content through the different channels. Ensure the timely publication in the different language versions. Long Description ---------------- - Write and review articles, titles, captions, blurbs, etc. Select photos and infographies for the UNESCO Courier. Contribute and ensure quality control of UNESCO Corporate content produced by the DPI team, including feature stories on UNESCO impact for publication on the web and other platforms.
