Economic Recovery Assistant

Duty Station [Khokha -Yemen]

Who are we?

The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) has delivered humanitarian relief and development programming in Yemen since 2008. DRC focuses on supporting refugees, migrants, and people displaced by conflict and natural disasters, working especially in areas with access challenges. DRC engages in protection, emergency, WASH, and mine risk education programming among other sectors, and has hub offices in Sana'a, Aden, Hodeidah, as well as several other locations throughout Yemen.

In response to the critical and constantly evolving humanitarian situation in Yemen, DRC has assumed a leading role in coordinating response at IDP hosting sites. Working at IDP sites involves working together with international and local organizations in order to coordinate implementation of humanitarian activities, support community-based site management mechanisms, and monitor standards, needs, and gaps.

Sector responsibilities:

Multi-sector, life-saving interventions during acute or protracted crisis within the areas of Rapid Response Mechanism (RRM), emergency shelter and non-food items, camp management, general food distribution (cash and in-kind), and multi-purpose cash assistance covering all stages of project cycle management, from programme design to implementation and monitoring and evaluation. Including also emergency preparedness activities. Emergency programs also emphasizes on the integration with other DRC programs, including protection, WASH and CCCM, for strengthening programme impact within an area of operation.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Administrative and technical support.
  • Carry out basic tasks within sector area, including beneficiary identification, distribution of relief assistance (either cash or in-kind), needs assessments and other sector-specific evaluations.
  • Carry out administrative tasks, including preparation of PRs, POs, service contracts, financial reconciliation and tracking of outputs.
  • Ensure timely reporting of outputs and escalation of issues faced during program implementation.
  • Follow given work plans and guidelines.
  • Provides administrative or technical support with the implementation of emergency activities in the area as well as other programs, where needed and relevant.
  • Assist the sector officer in ensuring compliance with DRC and donor processes, quality of the planning, implementation and follow up of emergency activities in line with sector guidelines and standard operating procedures

Other responsibilities

  • Perform other tasks and duties as required by the line Manager.
  • Support and help other DRC sectors if needed on daily activities.

To be successful in this role you must have:

  • Minimum 1 year of relevant work experience.
  • Experience in administrative tasks.
  • Excellent IT skills.
  • Experience with following standard procedures and guidelines.
  • English proficiency.
  • Fluency in local language
  • An understanding and commitment to HDP/DRC aims and values.
  • Able to make strong relations with community and key persons.
  • Ethical, trustworthy, creative, dynamic and enthusiastic.
  • Ability to work on multiple tasks, under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

We offer

DRC will offer the successful applicant a contract ending on 31 December 2022, renewable based on both funding and performance.

Duty Station (Khokha)

Salary and conditions will be in accordance with Danish Refugee Council’s Terms of Employment. This position will be placed at Band (NMH), level (1) and will be reporting to Emergancy Team Leader.
