IFC Bhutan office is seeking to recruit an Extended Term Consultant (ETC) at GF Grade to assist in the country activities. ETC will support the IFC’s country program including new business development and maintaining cordial relationship with both internal and external stakeholders of IFC. ETC may also be assigned additional responsibility as deemed necessary by the Country Management Unit. The position will report to Country Manager for Nepal, Bhutan and Bangladesh and Acting Country Coordinator for IFC in Bhutan who will provide supervision and guidance.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Establish and maintain relationships with mid-level clients and other stakeholders (private sector, government, development partners, WBG) to explore straightforward business opportunities.

• Support the identification and assessment of upstream investment opportunities based on country and sector strategies and market creation potential.

• Contribute to the development of feasibility studies and implementation plans for upstream projects that lead to IFC investments.

• Provide regular update of the country context and new development in the economy.

• Become a focal point for required analytics, data, information, etc. required by various industry teams along with the Management.

• Support Acting Country Coordinator in day-to-day business operation.

• Produce regular reports on the assigned program including monitoring progress against project milestones and KPIs.

• Work with the World Bank to analyze sector and regulatory reforms that are needed to unlock opportunities for private investment.

• Other assignments as required by Country Management Unit.

Selection Criteria

• Master's degree in a related field and at least 4–8 years of relevant experience. Related fields of education include business, finance, or economics or an area of expertise specific to a sector, subject matter, or industry specialty. Relevant experience could include a proven track record in business consulting or banking, or government, or operational experience in the sector or technical or professional field.

• Understanding of the country context and ability to link policy reforms, advisory interventions, investment, and mobilization to deliver solutions at a country level via the Cascade approach.

• Ability to engage with private sector clients, local and national governments and other stakeholders to encourage pioneering business and market development.

• Demonstrates active listening skills by paying full attention and asking questions to clarify client and stakeholder needs and gather required information.

• Ability to interact effectively with clients and stakeholders by acting professionally, responding to their requests and inquiries, delivering what is promised, and meeting deadlines.

• Outstanding analytical and critical thinking skills.

• Strong written and verbal communications skills in English.
