Result of Service Implementation of new visual Drupal theme designed for the World Tsunami Awareness Day website in line with UNDRR’s corporate branding and style guide.

Duties and Responsibilities The United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR) promotes the World Tsunami Awareness Day (WTAD) every 5 November to raise awareness and action to highlight best practices and examples of international cooperation that have a positive impact on the lives of people who live in disaster-prone parts of the world i.e. reducing the numbers of people affected by man-made and natural hazards. The ‘Communication, Advocacy and Knowledge Management Section’ in Geneva has been tasked with a design update to the website.

The consultant Drupal front end developer will be responsible for the implementation of a design update. Please see exact details under Outputs/Work assignment.

Qualifications/special skills Skills: Technical test in the form of online portfolio review or interview. Academic Qualifications: First level degree in Computer Science or related field is required. Experience: A minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience is required (Drupal Theming and Front-end Development). Working knowledge of Drupal, PHP, jQuery, Javascript, CSS3, HTML5, Sass, and Responsive Website Design. Experience using layout grid systems. Having an Acquia certification is a plus. Experience working with design and/or component systems is a plus. Experience working with Gutenberg for Drupal is a plus. Language: Fluency in written and spoken English is required.

Additional Information Outputs/Work Assignment

INPUT from UNDRR 1. Access to all Drupal base platform sites visual designs as basis to rationalize design patterns to use to WTAD website. 2. WTAD new logo dependency for website new color scheme. 3. Drupal platform theming documentation.

ACTIVITIES 1. Systems analysis and engagements with the project team to develop Drupal specification (e.g. module selection, design pattern modules, Blocks, Views, etc.) required to implement WTAD sub-theme to ensure an effective, visually appealing, and intuitive implementation. 2. Work with the project manager to produce a work plan with activities, quality assurance process, and timelines for WTAD website redesign implementation. 3. Develop a standards-compliant responsive Drupal theme implementing the WTAD design. 4. Develop the WTAD redesign website according to specification. a. Select and configure appropriate Drupal core and contributed modules; b. Develop Drupal custom preprocessing modules as required; c. Write Sass/CSS as required and according to Drupal standards; d. Implement content types, vocabularies, Blocks, Views, and user roles as required. 5. Work with WTAD content managers to populate WTAD website with launch content. 6. Provide informal demo/training to WTAD site to the relevant UNDRR team. 7. Provide documentation on usage of theme and how visual theme components are coded (HTML, CSS, JavaScript). 8. Proposal of a sustainable design system tooling considering areas of responsibilities of different teams (design, technical, and content).
