Driver & Logistics Associate

We are currently seeking qualified candidates for the position of Driver & Logistics Associate for the MCC HSS/PHC/cGBV project in Lesotho****. The position will be based in Maseru, Lesotho.

MCC HSS/PHC/cGBV Lesotho Project Description:

The Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) has entered into a new Compact, Compact II with the Government of Lesotho (GOL). Recognizing that strong human capital is key to driving poverty reduction (Lesotho scores only 0.4 on the Human Capital Index, indicating that a child born today would only be as 40% as productive as if they were to attain good health), $75m of the Compact has been allocated to the Health Systems Strengthening (HSS) Project which will improve outcomes through strengthening Lesotho’s Primary Health Care (PHC) system. The project focuses on sustainably improving clinical service delivery, building the capacity of district health management teams (DHMTs), and the inclusion of gender-based violence clinical treatment and response protocols in line with the requirements of the 2022 Domestic Violence Bill.

Position Description:

The Driver & Logistics Associate transports staff and other personnel conducting official project business. They assure that vehicles are properly maintained and operated according to FHI 360 Lesotho, donor guidelines and manufacturer specifications. The Driver & Logistics Associate maintains an understanding of all country-specific laws regarding the ownership and operation of motor vehicles. They will provide coordination and logistical support to different program units. This position will report to the HR and Administration Manger.

Position Responsibilities

Driving:

  • Transportation services for Lesotho Office project staff and other personnel as may be required.
  • Updates the logbook of vehicle use daily for recording of mileage and submits mileage reports weekly.
  • Collects and delivers official materials including documents.
  • Checks safety of vehicles to ensure road worthiness daily and when safety problems are encountered report them and take steps to resolve.
  • Reports periodic servicing and other needs of the vehicles e.g., license disk renewal, in advance to ensure its proper handling.
  • Develops and updates a schedule of dates and information for vehicle services, warranty agreements, maintenance plans, vehicle license disk and other significant dates.
  • Ensures that vehicles are clean, safely parked at all times and keys are kept under security in the office of the Program Director.
  • Ensures safe keeping of vehicle accessories e.g., jack, first aid kit, fire extinguisher, GPS, etc.
  • Ensures that immediate actions required by traffic rules and regulations are taken in case of involvement in a car accident or traffic fines.
  • Keeps vehicles filled with gas, checks oil, transmission fluid, and coolant levels, checks air pressure in tires each week or as necessary.
  • Any other duties as delegated by the Program Director.

Logistics:

  • Screen all incoming visitors and vendors; and open and close the office daily, observing security and other established office procedures.
  • Receive, log, and distribute all incoming and outgoing courier packages; office deliveries; and incoming faxes in a timely manner
  • Receive all post collected, sort and distribute post and open all post for Finance and sort invoices and hand over to HR & Admin Manager upon receiving services and/or goods fill out a Goods Received Note send to HR & Admin Manager accordingly. Receive and date stamp all invoices and review for completeness and accuracy.
  • Ensure IEC materials are printed, laminated and posted in all designated/common areas such as meeting room, kitchens, photocopying stations, bathrooms and reception area.
  • Manage a sign-up system for all staff and visitors accessing the office, ensuring individuals sign-up upon entry and exit of office premises each time.
  • Raise a purchase request and follow the procurement policy and procedures when new stock needs to be purchased
  • Provide administration support such as photocopying and or scanning as and when required to office staff
  • Arrange the meeting room for staff meetings to ensure social distancing is observed
  • Supports procurements in the Digital Process Automation (DPA) system
  • Provide general administrative support to programs

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Diploma or its International Equivalent
  • At least 5 years professional driving experience
  • Defensive Driving qualification
  • Must have a clean driving record with valid driving license and a Public Driver’s Permit (PDP).
  • Experience in the operation of large vehicles; or an equivalent combination of experience and training.
  • Previous experience working in a fast-paced environment
  • Good computer skills specifically Microsoft Office projects (Word, Outlook, Excel)
  • Knowledge and/or experience working as a car mechanic will be an added advantage.

The position will be based in Maseru, Lesotho and work out of the FHI 360 office. Preference is for Lesotho nationals.
