The World Bank Group (WBG) Office in Congo, Democratic Republic of, (DRC)- Kinshasa is responsible for overseeing the World Bank’s programs for both IBRD and IFC in the Country. The WBG Office houses about 50 World Bank and IFC staff including consultants who are responsible for maintaining a successful Bank relationship with our clients. The team works with integrity, dedication and strong team spirit to improve the wellbeing of the most disadvantaged and promote shared prosperity. To meet the needs of diverse program, the World Bank Office in Kinshasa needs two (02) Drivers to support the operations in DRC.

Roles & Responsibility

The main purpose of the job is to provide professional driving services to the Bank.

This is an office support job, which contributes to the smooth running of the daily operations of the Country Office. The drivers will work closely with the Resource Management and administrative teams, will drive the World Bank Vehicle in a professional manner.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following tasks:

• Drive the World Bank staff to meetings and business sites.

• Operating World Bank office vehicle in a responsible and secure manner.

• Maintain the vehicle in a clean and serviceable condition daily.

• Ensure that the vehicle insurance, registration and general service schedule is up to date.

• Keep an updated vehicle logbook including service and fuel dates; ensure staff sign the logbook.

• Fuel the office vehicle in accordance with the World Bank Group fueling procedures.

• Carryout basic vehicle maintenance and repairs.

• Able to prevent accidents with high consideration of other road users and be able to demonstrate professional maneuvers.

• Ensure passengers safety and capable of handling emergency situations.

• Help with ad hoc administrative tasks at the request of office staff.

• Ensure that the vehicle should be fitted with seat belts, fire extinguishers, first aid kit, spare tire(s), jack, wheel spanner, tow rope, jump leads, a set of necessary fan belts and tool kit.

• Ensure that the vehicle should always be in a road worthy condition – making sure that the vehicle is equipped with a spare tire(s).

• Daily inspection of vehicle for tire pressure, engine oil, brake fluid, radiator coolant, fuel level, battery water level and any other requirement.

Selection Criteria

• The candidate will possess a valid driving license and capable of Defensive Driving, l certificate.

• The candidate must possess a valid defensive driving license.

• The candidate should have a positive attitude, be diligent, flexible, dressed presentably, and take initiative to help office staff and guests.

• Must have completed a Senior Secondary School Education or equivalent, computer literate and should be able to communicate effectively in French (verbal and written).

• The successful candidate must have at least five (05) years of professional driving experience in a multi-cultural environment with a safe driving record.

• Thorough knowledge of driving rules and regulations and be conversant with the Road Security Code.

• Basic knowledge of working English would be will be added advantage.

• Possess basic skills in minor vehicle repairs and maintenance. Vocational training in auto maintenance and repair would be a plus.

• Knowledge of UN system security procedures and conversant with VHF Radio call will be an added advantage.

• Ability to pass World Bank security clearance, medical test, UNDSS basic and advanced security clearance examinations.

• Strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to team-oriented work.

• Willingness to drive throughout DRC and neighboring countries.
