Contract

This is a G-2 contract. This kind of contract is known as General Service and related categories. It is normally only for nationals. It usually requires 2 years of experience, depending on education.

Org. Setting and Reporting

This position located in the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA), in the Tehran Liaison Office. . The Light Vehicle Driver reports to the. Head of Teheran Liaison Office.

Responsibilities

• Drives UNAMA vehicles safely for the transportation of authorized personnel. • Delivers and collects official mail, documents supplies and other items. • Assists with the day-to-day maintenance of UNAMA vehicles, carries out daily checks oil, water, battery, brakes, tires, etc. • Undertakes minor repairs of the vehicle fleet when required, such as changing of flat tyres. • Ensures all assigned vehicles are fully fueled, clean and road worthy. • Records all official trips, daily mileage usage, fuel consumption, oil changes, greasing, etc. • Reports all vehicle damages, mechanical and electrical faults to Transport Officer. • Ensures compliance with UN roles and regulations in relation to reporting vehicle accidents and /or incidents. • Ensures compliance with UN roles and UNAMA security directives/procedures governing road mission convoy. • Assist with the collection and analysis of data as well as preparation of data presentations and reports for information sharing, responding to queries, knowledge management, panning and decision making. • Assist with visualization and updating information material such as web pages or brochures. • Preforms other duties as assigned.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent is required. Post-secondary technical or vocational qualification in the relevant field or equivalent combination of training and experience in ground transport management is desirable

A minimum of one year of experience as a driver with a safe driving record is required. The minimum year of relevant experience is reduced to zero (0) for candidates who possess a first-level university degree or higher in mechanical engineering Experience in driving armored vehicles is required Work experience with the United Nations system or similar international organizations is desirable.
