The Government of India has accorded high priority and adopted multifaceted development strategies to promote socio-economic growth of Scheduled Tribes (STs) constituting 8.6% of the India’s total population as their human development indicators with regards to health, education, gender and other indices are well below the national average.

The Ministry of Tribal Affairs (MoTA) is the nodal Ministry for overall policy, planning and coordination of programmes for development of Scheduled Tribes (STs). To this end, Ministry of Tribal Affairs has undertaken activities that follow from the subjects allocated under the Government of India (Allocation of Business) Rules, 1961. and amendment(s) thereafter. Several schemes and programmes are being implemented such as Special Central Assistance to Tribal Sub Schemes (SCA to TSP); Grant under Article 275(1) of the Constitution of India; Post-Matric Scholarship for ST Students; Development of Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups etc. for development of the Scheduled Tribes. Ministry of Tribal Affairs is adopting various innovative strategies and implementing development solutions to address the multiple deprivations being faced by the tribal communities.

UNDP as part of its inclusive development agenda is working with the Ministry of Tribal Affairs for implementation of the project titled ‘‘Enhancing effectiveness of tribal development programmes in India’ to strengthen monitoring and implementation of schemes/programmes designed for tribal development, promoting e-governance for brining development and operational effectiveness; and for demonstration of innovative, scalable, integrated development solutions in tribal dominated areas.

The Documentation Support Officer will work under the overall supervision and guidance of the National Project Director, MOTA-UNDP Project and in consultation with Chief Advisor, Strategic Planning and State Outreach, UNDP and will perform the following functions:

• Undertake coordination with other divisions for achieving the objectives of the scheme for tribal development • Support in collation and analysis of data and progress reports from the states and other partners pertaining to effective operation of the scheme • Support in reviewing the updation of project data on the ADIGRAM and other Portals and prepara-tion of update on periodic basis • Support the Division in preparation of power point presentation, background notes, progress re-ports, briefing points, talking points, concept note etc. • Assist in preparing regular quarterly progress reports and annual reports, as required by UNDP • Support in organizing cross learning events, capacity building workshops/consultation and prepara-tion of knowledge products, IEC materials etc. • Assist in developing communication material for MOTA and UNDP website and social media chan-nels • Coordination and facilitation in organizing Project Appraisal Committee meetings • Perform any other tasks assigned from time to time by the Supervisor
