The UN Volunteer Communication Officer will support the Resident Coordinator’s Office in the Communications Unit as part of the joint communications approach. This assignment will include supporting the inter-agency joint communications, which reflects the work of all UN agencies as One UN, as well as support internal and external communications for the UN in India.

Under the direct supervision of Chief of Staff in the UNRCO, the UN Volunteer Communication Officer will undertake the following tasks: • Contribute to development, editing and review of wide range of communications materials for UN Resident Coordinator Office (UNRCO) to support implementation of internal and external communication and outreach strategies, focusing to a large extent on the Sustainable Development Goals and the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework 2023-2027. • Support in ensuring quality assurance for publications, reports and media materials for UNRCO. • Draft op-eds, stories, key messages, blogs, website description content, and conducting research for papers, reports and publications for the RCO. • Assist in designing of digital campaigns and draft digital media friendly content for RCO platforms, including for campaigns and result groups. • Support ensuring all materials developed and published by the team are in line with the publication and branding guidelines. • Support the effective management of the Communications Unit and perform all other tasks assigned by Supervisor to support the smooth and time- bound deliverables.

or demonstrated interest in Communication and media domain
• Proven experience in speech writing, drafting stories, research and other publication skills will be preferred. • Previous experience in working in the media, development sector or content generation is preferred. • Demonstrated ability and prior work experience in dealing with sensitive issues and confidential content. • Adequate knowledge of digital media landscape – including ability to design digital campaigns and craft digital friendly content is essential. • Previous experience as a volunteer and/or experience of another culture, (i.e. studies, vol-nteer work, internship) would be highly regarded.
