You have:

• At least 5 years of professional photography/videography experience.
• Fluency in English is required; Knowledge of another UN language (Arabic) or local language an asset.
• Diplomas/certificates relevant to the field of services (I.e., media, communication, journalism, film production studies or certificates; or in another relevant field).
• Demonstrated ability to produce high quality materials according to specified technical requirements in a fast-paced environment and changing conditions, including short deadlines.

How can you make a difference?

I. Background

The "Back to My Classroom" campaign, supported by UNICEF Liberia, aims to re-enroll out-of-school children and improve access to quality education across Liberia. Aligned with UNICEF's Country Programme Document (CPD) 2020-2025 and the vision of the next CPD (2026 – 2030) , this initiative seeks to uphold children's rights to education, protection, and development by addressing systemic barriers to schooling. The campaign highlights partnerships with government institutions, communities, and civil society organizations to ensure inclusive and equitable learning opportunities for all children.

II. Purpose of Activity/Assignment:

The consultant will document the impact of the "Back to My Classroom" campaign through multimedia content, including videos, photography, and human-interest stories. The deliverables will serve UNICEF's advocacy, visibility, and communication objectives, targeting donors, global stakeholders, government partners, NGOs, and Liberian communities.

III. Scope of Work:

The consultant will:

1. Capture 25-30 shooting days over 10 months across Liberia, including Monrovia and remote counties.
2. Produce multimedia content highlighting re-enrolled children's journeys, community-led efforts, and challenges in accessing schooling.
3. Ensure ethical storytelling, prioritizing consent, dignity, and child safeguarding.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

V. Qualification/Experience/Competencies/Skills Required

Education:

• Diplomas/certificates relevant to the field of services (I.e., media, communication, journalism, film production studies or certificates; or in another relevant field).

Work Experience:

• At least 5 years of professional photography / videography experience. Working in a humanitarian context or in an international environment with experience in working on topics regarding vulnerable groups is an asset.
• Track record of high-quality photography content distributed to national and international broadcasters and online media platforms (proved by a portfolio). Demonstrated ability to produce high quality materials according to specified technical requirements in a fast-paced environment and changing conditions, including short deadlines. Previous relevant experience of working with a UN Agency, international organizations, international media, or donors is an asset.

Language Proficiency:

• Fluency in English is required; Knowledge of another UN language (Arabic) or local language an asset.

VI. Working Conditions:

Home Based (XX) Office Based

The consultant is expected to use his/her own gear and equipment.

VII. Supervision:

The consultant will be supervised by the UNICEF Representative.

VIII. Technical and Financial Proposals:

Applicants are invited to submit with their online application:

• A technical proposal that outlines their understanding of the task and proposed methodology or a cover letter explaining why they are well placed to undertake this assignment
• All applicants must share a portfolio for evaluation
• A recently updated CV
• A financial proposal which must be an all-inclusive cost (consultancy fees, mission expenses, travels, etc.).

Selection criteria will be based on qualifications, skills, expertise and experience in the required field, and quality of the technical and financial offer. Each application will be assessed first on its technical merits and subsequently on its price.

Individuals engaged under a consultancy or individual contract will not be considered “staff members” under the Staff Regulations and Rules of the United Nations and UNICEF’s policies and procedures, and will not be entitled to benefits provided therein (such as leave entitlements and medical insurance coverage). Their conditions of service will be governed by their contract and the General Conditions of Contracts for the Services of Consultants and Individual Contractors. Consultants and individual contractors are responsible for determining their tax liabilities and for the payment of any taxes and/or duties, in accordance with local or other applicable laws.

The selected candidate is solely responsible to ensure that the visa (applicable) and health insurance required to perform the duties of the contract are valid for the entire period of the contract. Selected candidates are subject to confirmation of fully-vaccinated status against SARS-CoV-2 (Covid-19) with a World Health Organization (WHO)-endorsed vaccine, which must be met prior to taking up the assignment. It does not apply to consultants who will work remotely and are not expected to work on or visit UNICEF premises, programme delivery locations or directly interact with communities UNICEF works with, nor to travel to perform functions for UNICEF for the duration of their consultancy contracts.
