About Us

Founded in 1933 at the request of Albert Einstein, the IRC offers lifesaving care and life-changing assistance to refugees forced to flee from war or disaster. In 2016, IRC Germany was founded and is involved in the areas of education, economic well-being, safety, legal protection, and empowerment throughout Germany.

The Director Internal Audit provides independent, objective assurance and consulting services to make valuable contributions and improve the operations of the International Rescue Committee (IRC). The services include the appraisal of the adequacy and effectiveness of the IRC’s operating, reporting, and compliance processes and controls. The Director of Internal Audit will not only strive to provide the highest level of professional service but also maintains the highest ethical standards and due professional care.

Major Responsibilities

- Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders. - Manage 1 to 4 audit staff. - Provide backup for the Senior Director’s Internal Audit. - Plan, lead, and/or conduct location and functional audits and special reviews. - Prepare audit reports that include conclusions and recommendations to correct identified deficiencies and improve processes. - Monitor the progress of management’s mitigation of identified deficiencies/opportunities. - Ensure adherence to the Institute of Internal Auditors’ professional standards. - Assist the Senior Director of Internal Audit in developing annual audit plans that address significant risks of the organization. - Assist the Senior Director of Internal Audit in continuously improving the audit process through new tools and techniques.

Your Profile

- Bachelor’s degree in a business-related field and licenses in CPA/CA or CIA - Significant demonstrable experience in external and internal auditing - Strong management & leadership experience - Staff Development & Project Management - Experience working in the Not-for-Profit industry, INGO sector, and/or grant-supported organizations. - You have fluent English language skills at (C1 – C2) according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CERF) German, French, Spanish, or Arabic will be a plus - Internal Controls, Business Processes, and Risk Management - Data Analysis

Preferred experience & skills:

- Strong organizational and time-management skills; proven ability to prioritize and deliver on time. - Strong analytic problem-solving skills. - Ability to present and explain complex issues. - Ability to negotiate and achieve consensus on recommendations to reduce risk or improve operations.
