We are recruiting for a Director for Global Private Partnerships to our Private Engagement team based in Copenhagen. Can you address the funding gap by mobilising private sector partners? Are you looking for a challenging opportunity to develop and strengthen DRC’s strategic partnerships and income generating agreements with global private foundations, private sector actors and individuals? As Director for Global Private Partnerships you will have freedom to strategize and operate based on your expertise and form DRC's global fundraising strategy.

Who are we?

The Programme, Policy & External Relations (PPE) department is responsible for DRC’s global program policy development, program quality assurance and accountability, and drives global programme innovation, business development, evidence & learning. The department also leads global advocacy & press and builds and expands external relations & institutional fundraising at global level.

As an addition to the PPE department, due to current reorganization, we have included a new division responsible for Global Private Partnerships. The division includes a Private Engagement team consisting of around 30 employees responsible for Global Private Engagement with private donors and a Global Private Foundation team consisting of 3 employees. The position reports to the Executive Director for PPE.

The ambition is to strengthen DRC’s focus on private partnerships including private foundations and private companies and thereby to grow this part of the division over time.

About the job

With close to 83 million people being forcibly displaced due to war and conflict we need to mobilise much broader to ensure the funding needed to address human suffering and pave the way for sustainable solutions for the displacement affected communities. Available institutional funding is simply not enough. Nor is the funding graciously provided for by private individual contributors. New actors must be engaged in reducing humanitarian and displacement related needs. The Sustainable Development Goals highlight the importance of mobilising broader, especially with private sector, to ensure not only funding, but also new ways of thinking and working, alternative types of financing as well mobilisation of global solidarity towards addressing displacement challenges and needs.

The Director for Global Private Partnership will play a crucial role in addressing the funding gap by mobilising private sector partners and resources to engage in addressing displacement related needs and financing gaps. The Director is leading DRC’s overall engagement with and fundraising from private foundations, private companies and private individuals. While DRC over recent years has been successful in enhancing our engagement with the private sector with a focus on Denmark, our new Global Strategy 2025 has a clear ambition to develop, accelerate and deepen our private engagements at a global scale.

The main purpose of the role as Director for Global Private Partnerships is therefore to develop and strengthen DRC’s strategic partnerships and income generating agreements with global private foundations, private sector actors and individuals as well as taking responsibility for anchoring the private sector strategy both in HQ and across regional and country operations. Based on close collaboration with the Directors of Programme and External Relations, the Executive Director for PPE, the Regional Executive Directors and the Secretary General, the Director for Global Private Partnership will drive DRC’s ambition of moving its private partnerships engagements from being primarily locally rooted in Denmark to the global level.
